Global Rainbow, described by artist Yvette Mattern as ‘a visual translation of hope and peace’, has lit up the skies across Birmingham and Barking and Dagenham.Presented around the world since 2009, these rainbow laser beams have taken on a new significance in 2020 with the symbolic links to the NHS and the UK’s outpouring of gratitude to and support of key workers. WHAT'S ON | GREENWICH+DOCKLANDS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL GDIF 2021 will open with Dan Acher’s We Are Watching: a striking image of a giant eye, comprising of thousands of digital portraits, contributed by people from over 191 countries across the globe, flown on a monumental flag.The 10-storey high flag is designed to send a clear message to world leaders with the power to affect decisions about climate change: that the eyes of the world are uponGREENWICH EVENTS

Dancing City returns to Canary Wharf for an extended two day dance takeover. This year's programme will explore our relationship to the natural world and each other, with inspiration drawn from a wide variety of dance and choreographic styles.BLACK VICTORIANS
This dance performance by Artistic Director and Choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles is inspired by nineteenth century studio photographs of black men, women and children. Exploring a complex, but often forgotten black presence in pre-Windrush Britain, this performance calls attention to previously “hidden figures” and challenges historical and contemporary perceptions. 846 LIVE | THEATRE ROYAL STRATFORD EAST | GREENWICH 846 Live is a co-production with Theatre Royal Stratford East and the Royal Docks Team in response to the murder of George Floyd on 25 May 2020.. This brutal murder ignited a global surge of anger and pain. F rom the Windrush scandal to the Grenfell Tower tragedy, racist oppression is very much alive in the UK. Ellie Harris leads on the delivery of the flagship Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, and producing cultural events for Festival.org.
