Municipal wastewater treatment systems are sized to handle specific flows and loadings. If industrial producers don’t adequately pre-treat their wastewater prior to discharge, the municipal plant’s biological system can be thrown off balance. REDUCE CHEMICAL USE IN A DAF SYSTEM 7. Jar Test, Jar Test, Jar Test. The easiest and most immediate way to reduce chemical use is to draw wastewater samples and test dosing rates. Grab 100 ml of wastewater, use a pipette to drop in 1 ml of coagulant, and give it a stir. If you see adequate coagulation, you’re good to go. DAF SYSTEM OPERATION & MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Like any other equipment in your facility, a DAF system absolutely must be maintained if you expect it to perform as designed. Whether you’re in charge of DAF system operation & maintenance or you’re in charge of the guys whose job it is to maintain the DAF system, here’s the list of maintenance procedures that should be performed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. RENTAL DAF UNITS & PILOT DAF SYSTEMS Rental units are great when wastewater treatment systems go down for maintenance, when process alterations affect effluent quality, or when capital for purchasing and owning equipment is not available. DAF pilot and rental systems are available in flow capacities from 20-2,000 gpm in dissolved air, nitrogen, or gas configurations. DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION SYSTEMS Dissolved Air Flotation systems effectively remove TSS, FOG, and other pollutants from wastewater.
