11 Comments April 18, 2021 FrugalHausfrau. My daughter introduced me to one of her fave recipes. It’s Creamy Chicken with Sun Dried Tomatoes. If you do a search, there are many variations on this dish (and the name, although sometimes you’ll see it called Tuscan Chicken); this one is straightforward and easy and only has a handfulof
HOMEMADE ROTISSERIE CHICKEN SEASONING Saving Money on Homemade Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning: Making your own blends is often a money-saving proposition, especially when you’re comparing it to buying a blend with a lot of salt in it. I don’t like to pay a premium price for salt, and these blends run from $2.99 for three ounces and up. DOCTORING CANNED BAKED BEANS Have a two-quart casserole at the ready. In a large pot or Dutch oven, add the bacon, onion, and water. Cook, stirring often until bacon is rendered (but not crisp) and onion nearly tender, and all water evaporated. Add in beans, brown sugar to taste, ketchup, mustard powder, molasses, andFABULOUS LEFTOVERS
There are two types of leftovers: Planned and those Smidges & Titches cluttering up your fridge. Simple Steamed Broccoli. Instant Pot Broccoli Cheese Soup Real Cheese, Milk, Cream. Cream of Broccoli Soup (there’s several Broccoli Soups on my blog!) And while there may be some overlap between the two types as far as ideas and recipes, I like EASY FRESH BLACKBERRY SAUCE The sauce will be thicker once cooled. Mix the slurry: Mix together lemon juice and water. In a small cup, add the cornstarch. Slowly while stirring, add in the lemon juice water mixture. If this mixture sits, the cornstarch will thicken on the bottom of the cup. Just stir together before using. 25 WAYS TO USE LEFTOVER CORN 1. breakfast bowl: Add corn to your morning breakfast bowl. Lean towards the Southwest for this idea. Fresh corn, chopped tomatoes, avocados over a grain and/or beans. Add a fresh Creamy Lime Vinaigrette and top with a poached or fried egg if you’d like. 2. quiche: Summer Vegetable Quiche. RESTAURANT STYLE MEXICAN GROUND BEEF Instructions. Add ground beef to a large pan or Dutch oven with about 1/2 cup of water and the salt. Set burner to medium heat and as the pan warms, work with the ground beef, breaking it up into small pieces. A potato masher works well for this. 25 WAYS TO USE LEFTOVER ASPARAGUS 13. parmigiana: Place leftover asparagus in a small, shallow dish, spread it with mayonnaise (yes, really!) and sprinkle generously with Parmesan (or other hard grating) cheese. Broil until heated through, bubbly and slightly browned in spots. It can be served as GRANDMOTHER'S OLD FASHIONED HAM LOAF Buried in my Grandmother’s recipe box on an old scrap of paper was a true treasure, my Grandmother’s Old Fashioned Ham Loaf. I can still imagine sitting at her Formica table. I can still taste it, the top brown and crusty and the inside moist, fragrant and flavorful, almost exotic with its little touch of allspice and clove. NOT GRANDMA'S SALMON LOAF Instructions. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a small bowl, add the crackers, milk and three egg yolks, mix together and set aside to soak as you prepare the rest of the ingredients. In a larger bowl, add the salmon and with clean hands or a fork mash and mush to break down thelarger pieces.

GRAPE JELLY BARBECUE SAUCE, UPDATED Instructions. In a medium-sized saucepan over low heat, combine the Heinz Chili Sauce and the jelly. Thoroughly warm and once the jelly is melted, add the vinegar. CLASSIC CRAZY BROCCOLI SALAD6 Comments

I must be getting old and decrepit (better than the alternative, as they say!) and for sure, I find my memory slipping a bit here and there. (What did I come into this room for is just the beginning, lol!) After I made this Classic Crazy Broccoli Salad I remembered I already have another version here on my site. That one is a _LIGHTERNO MAYO VERSION
_.
So that’s why I’m calling this one “Classic.” (And it reallyis!)

This recipe isn’t exactly “new” to my site, but this fabulous Herby Lemon Vinaigrette really needs its own place to live. In the past, it’s been part of my _COLD TUNA SALAD WITH GREEN BEANS_
but this dressing is so versatile, you might want to try it on different salads, maybe use it as a marinade and maybe even drizzle it over any simply cooked or grilled fish or chicken. Herby Lemon VinaigretteRead More

------------------------- CORONAVIRUS WHAT TO DO NOW (1ST WEEK OF MAY)27 Comments

Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve checked in with anything having to do with the Coronavirus. For one, it’s been a little overwhelming. Maybe it is for you, too? I go in fits and starts with trying to wrap my head around everything. It’s a lot, no doubt. Lucky for me that over the years I’ve had some pretty good practice at dealing. All kinds of dealing. I’ll pass on a few tips, below, that have helped me. And I’m gonna talk about groceries! What’s safe, what isn’t, and what’s good practice these days in dealing with the groceries we bring into the house – from the experts! I don’t think there is such a thing as an easy life. We all have struggles, we all cope in our own ways and we all handle anything thrown at us because the alternatives are worse. Maybe that’s where the saying that “God will never give us anything we can’t handle” comes from. But how do you handle something as slippery as this virus? And a slippery thing. it is. While the virus itself might not change (we hope) the numbers, all the information, the science and how it’s interpreted (and maybe more importantly, how it’s misinterpreted), the politics, the bad decisions, the news, and oh, all the opinions are like a roiling ocean, deep, dark, churning. It’s an abyss.Read More
