Concerts . 2020 / 2021 Sunday Evening Online Concert Series. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, we’re launching the new season of FSGW Concerts with a series of gatherings on Sunday evenings on the weeks when we’re not presenting dance music. FSGW - WASHINGTON FOLK FESTIVAL The Washington Folk Festival is produced by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington and the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, in partnership with the National Park Service and Montgomery County, Maryland.Support for the festival comes from the Richmond Folk Festival, the National Folk Festival, and Focus. WOWD-LP Takoma Park 94.3 FM is the official media sponsor while FSGW - ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCE (ONLINE) COVID-19 update: As you already know, in keeping with FSGW's COVID-19 response, our in-person ECD events are cancelled until some time after the local emergency orders restricting large gatherings have been rescinded. FSGW - GRAPEVINE (STORYTELLING) About Nancy Wang. Nancy Wang began performing in the 1970s as a dancer and choreographer, teaching modern dance as well as creative movement for children. In 1981 she began her partnership with Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo in Filipino traditional music and dance. In 1987, they began their storytelling career focusing on pan-Asian folktales and myths, using stylized movement to create Eth-Noh-Tec’s FSGW - NYE SEA TO SEA: MUSIC, DANCING AND MORE! Printed copies are mailed to FSGW Members who pay for that additional service. Print copies are also available at FSGW events. It includes a comprehensive monthly calendar and listings of FSGW - MID-WINTER FESTIVAL FSGW’s Mid-Winter Festival is usually held at Takoma Park Middle School on the first Saturday in February. But of course noting is the usual at the moment. Because of concerns about the pandemic, FSGW will produce an on-line event in 2021 on SUNDAY, February 7, running from 7 to at least 10 pm, featuring many of the performance genres that FSGW - 2021 (ONLINE) WASHINGTON SPRING BALL The Washington Spring Ball is a joyful yearly event of English Country Dancing to glorious music. FSGW - GETAWAY SCHEDULE ED MILLER: Take a virtual musical tour of the land that begot the border ballad with Scottish folksinger Ed Miller. Ed brings his love of ballad, story, and place to this presentation about the places, people, architecture, history and culture reflected in the songs of the Scottish Borders. FSGW - ANNUAL EVENTS Annual Events. The FSGW sponsors a number of special events every year. Singing, dancing, storytelling, and workshops, crafts for sale and impromptu hallway performances. Dance all day, listen to wonderful concerts, or participate in one of workshops or jams. In the evening, a concert and a dance. FSGW - SUNDAY CONTRA & SQUARE DANCE FSGW will be hosting live-stream concerts with contra and square dance musicians via Zoom and Facebook Live every other Sunday.
