Limit the spread, protect yourselves and others! #FlattenTheCurve #BisonOnTheGo Join us for a Facebook Live town hall today, Wednesday, March 25 at noon Eastern Time. We will have several presenters share updates on the University, the COVID-19 virus, the impact on our nation, and our students’ experience with virtual online courses thus far. Contact DPS or our hotline if you suspect you or someone you know might be infected. Repost @MSSDEagles Text CLERCAID to 41444 to donate to support our students! We would like to take a moment to THANK everyone who donated to support our students and their families’ needs related to this national emergency. We were able to cover the costs associated with changing travel plans for our students traveling home - across the country. We will need continued donations to provide ongoing support for families during this challenging time. Check out the photos of KDES and transportation staff preparing packages to deliver to KDES and local MSSD families. Our #GallaudetU students are packing up their belongings today to leave their home away from their actual homes. Most are leaving with a sense of disbelief and surreality, knowing that this is the last time they will see our campus for a long time. While we continue to adjust to the realities of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, our focus remains on our students and their experience as we transition from in-person to virtual learning. We’re here for all of our Gallaudet students, near and far, for whatever you need. We are now paying attention to their emergency needs. We have a new emergency fund to support our students. GUAA made the first donation of $10,000 to this fund to support our students and their families during this time. SBG just donated an additional $20,000. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for all of our students’ emergency needs. In response to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, Clerc Center has sent its students home on an extended spring break. As a result of the unexpected change, our community will experience financial hardship. For example, MSSD students, need to book last-minute flights home to their families. Some of our students live with food scarcity as a daily reality. Staff will be preparing bags of non-perishable goods to deliver to families. How can you help? In response to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, Gallaudet University is moving all its classes online from March 23 to the end of the spring semester. All students have been asked to return home. You can read more about our response at coronavirus.gallaudet.edu. Some of our students may face financial hardship as a result of this decision. While the university is working to mitigate the impact of changes to academic instruction and travel restrictions on students’ educational experience, we know that some students will be more adversely impacted than others. Your support, in the form of a donation to the COVID-19 BISON AID FUND, will help us ensure that all our students have a chance to be safe and healthy, and to continue the pursuit of their education. Your entire donation will be used to support our students in need, and is tax-deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. Help our Bison students continue their education. Your gift will help students finish out the semester. Donate at: https://bit.ly/2WaeCBu OR Text BISONAID to 91999 #BisonAid Today marks 32 years since "Deaf President Now" took place at #GallaudetU. On March 13, 1988, students, faculty, and staff celebrated in Gallaudet's Field House when the four demands were met and I. King Jordan was announced as Gallaudet University's first deaf president. We reflect on how much progress has been made since DPN and celebrate those who marched to make Gallaudet what it is today.#BisonNation
