USDA ANNOUNCES GEO FUNDING The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced that rural agricultural producers and small business owners can apply for financial resources to purchase and install renewable energy systems or make energy efficiency improvements. USDA is making more than $280 million available to eligible applicants through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). Eric. waterpirate, Feb 24, 2013. CALCULATING GENERATOR SIZE We loose power often during the winter so we need a generator to run the system in the event we loose power. I am trying to determine the minimum size generator to run the system (without causing damage). We are looking at putting in a 3 ton unit. According to the specs the LRA is 82. Based on my calculations that comes out to just over 17kw's. WHERE'S THE PRIMARY ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION IN A GEOTHERMAL The fan is currently set on 2/3/9/10 for ON/LOW/HIGH/AUX. I suppose I could lower the fan speeds and see what happens. The Symphony energy readout looks like it cannot report a fan wattage less than ~47W, as that's what it reports for fan speeds 2, 3, and 4. FLOW CENTER FOR WATERFURNACE SERIES 7 The 26-116 pump are one of the least efficient ones people can use, the only solution to be even less efficient is use (2) of them. They use 400 watts each. They typically make a geo system much less efficient. Moving forward, the 7 series makes only sense if you use the variable speed 32-140 pump which water furnace has specified forit.
LOOP TEMPERATURE
1) The purpose of the ground loop is to bring the entering water temperature within the operating range of the heatpump. 2) Geo heatpumps generally run with entering water temp from 20-120F, although the loops are usually designed to go down to 30F in the winter and up to 90F in the summer for efficiency purposes. COMPARING CLIMATEMASTER AND WATERFURNACE 3) In comparing CM 30/45 or WF 5/7, the efficiency numbers look better for the variable speed compressor units. And it appears that ClimateMaster has a slight edge on numbers when compared to WF looking at open loop numbers for all units. WHAT ARE YOUR AVERAGE DRILLING SPEEDS? 30-45 mins to set up and drill, loop, grout and breakdown rig is unbelievably fast!!! We run a canterra ct311 with a 5x6 mud pump, drill a 6" bore with a drag bit. I just can't imagine have a 200' bore done in 30-45 mins. I would love to watch your team drill a bore to find some pointers for fast production.CISTERN STORAGE

INSTALLER POURING SAND ON TOP OF GROUND LOOP PIPES BEFORE Sand or stone dust/screenings is used when it is difficult to get good compaction around the loops and to protect the loops from any sharp rocks. Moist sand is actually a little better conductor than moist silt/clay at 0.9 vs 0.75 BTU-Hr-Ft. If it stays completely dry, then silt/clay would be slightly better at 0.5 vs. 0.35, but this is rare.15KW VS 20KW HEATER
I informed the general contractor (new construction) that this needed to be changed only to have the HVAC guys come to hook up a 15kw heating element. They decided to use the 15kw because it only requires one wire while the 20kw would require an additional wire run.
