The German Village Commission and the German Village Historic District were established by Ordinance # 976-60 and 1221-60 in 1960. The Commission Guidelines were adopted in 1989. Every year, Haus und Garten Tour patrons can experience some of these enchanted gardens first-hand. Since space is usually at such a premium, the gardens of German Village are often testaments to vision, ingenuity and creativity. The garden of Melinda and Ed Sader, which was featured on the 2018 Haus und Garten Tour, is a perfect case inpoint.
FRANK FETCH PARK
Frank Fetch Park. Through the efforts of Frank Fetch and other members of The German Village Society, a piece of ground on Beck Street was acquired by the City of Columbus in 1962. A house that once stood on the site was raised and the 0.2 acre park was developed by Parks crews. The work was completed and the park opened in 1966.RECYCLING FAQ
Yard waste is collected on alternating weeks, opposite that of recycling, in either biodegradable bags or separate containers. The City of Columbus Compost Facility, or the Com-Til Compost Facility, is located at 7000 Jackson Pike. Call 614-645-3153 with any questions. You can also dispose of yard waste at various drop-off locations. COLUMBIA GAS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GAS METERS Columbia Gas wanted to take meters out of our basements as part of their pipeline upgrade. That upgrade was required of them by the feds. But the gas company’s preference is to put meters on the fronts of homes, and in German Village, that just won’t work. Every year, Haus und Garten Tour patrons can experience some of these enchanted gardens first-hand. Since space is usually at such a premium, the gardens of German Village are often testaments to vision, ingenuity and creativity. The garden of Melinda and Ed Sader, which was featured on the 2018 Haus und Garten Tour, is a perfect case inpoint.
FRANK FETCH PARK
Frank Fetch Park. Through the efforts of Frank Fetch and other members of The German Village Society, a piece of ground on Beck Street was acquired by the City of Columbus in 1962. A house that once stood on the site was raised and the 0.2 acre park was developed by Parks crews. The work was completed and the park opened in 1966. STAFF AND TRUSTEES DIRECTORY Bill Curlis. Bill has lived in German Village since 1990 and has been embedded in the neighborhood since. He has served the German Village Society in various capacities including Haus und Garten Tour and PreTour, Oktoberfest, Civic Relations, Historic Preservation Committee, Organizational Development Committee, Board of Trustees President and Secretary (where he is once again serving).GOLDEN HOBBY SHOP

That does continue to the case – However.as of this week, the governor has indicated that he changing guidelines and is now allowing outdoor events such as festivals, proms, etcWhile it’s certainly not a festival or a prom (though you may have that old dress hanging somewhere), Village SELF-GUIDED WALKING TOUR Stop by the Meeting Haus and pick up a copy of the German Village Walking tour. The self-guided tour gives your three different ways to experience different parts of our historic village, and includes suggested food and drink stops along the way. You’ll see and learn about historic architecture, as well as the way early German residentslived

SANDSTONE CURBS IN GERMAN VILLAGE Sandstone deteriorates over time, just as slate and brick. In German Village curbs often settle, get worn or damaged by vehicles, or simply fail and crumble. The German Village Society has worked hard to establish the protocol with the City of Columbus for replacing these curbs with new sandstone curbs. I met with representatives from thecity
