Managers can hire new staff quickly if HOW TO IMPROVE EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IN GOVERNMENT Decades of research clearly show that the primary driver of employee engagement is the climate created by supervisors at the work unit level. No factor has a bigger impact on each employee’s motivation than their immediate supervisor, so it is absolutely essential that supervisors at all levels learn to create a work environment that taps into the primary drivers of employee engagement.TOTAL SYSTEM POWER

THE TOUGHEST CHOICES A LEADER MUST MAKE HOW TO MOTIVATE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES We can, however, create a climate that taps into these intrinsic motivators. Daniel Pink breaks intrinsic motivation into three categories: Purpose, Automony, and Mastery. Kenneth Thomas breaks intrinsic motivation into similar components, calling them Meaningful Work, Choice, and Competence. Thomas also adds a fourth category:Progress.
