PROFESSOR EVELYN SCHREIBER ON TONI MORRISON Nobel Laureate and Pulitzer Prize Winner Toni Morrison died August 5 at the age of 88. Professor Evelyn Schreiber, a specialist in Morrison's work and former president of the Toni Morrison Society, was interviewed On August 8 on the Kojo Nnamdi show about Morrison's legacy. You can listen to the broadcast here. Morrison visited GW in 2011 in conjuction with the "Bench by the Road" project, organized by the Toni Morrison Society. A bench sits outside Lisner Auditorium that is part of the project, which GW Today has described here. “PASSING”: GWU’S ANNUAL ENGLISH GRADUATE SYMPOSIUM On March 1st, 2019, the English Graduate Student Association (EGSA) hosted their annual symposium, where graduate students from GWU and other consortium schools gather to share their research with one another in a supportive and rigorous atmosphere. JABARI ASIM IN THE JENNY MCKEAN MOORE READING SERIES Writer Jabari Asim will read from his book We Can't Breathe: On Black Lives, White Lies, and the Art of Survival, March 7th, in Gelman 702 at 7:00 pm. Asim is the author of six books for adults and nine books for children. He was an editor and columnist for the Washington Post and editor in chief of The Crisis. He is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in Creative Arts. He teaches at EmoryUniversity.
