I’m going to keep it honest here—no other apple crisp recipe can even TOUCH this one. It’s sweet, yet balanced with the perfect amount of salt and tanginess from the lemon (which you can’t taste on their own really because they simply act to really draw out all the flavors of the apple crisp). It’s rich and caramel-y (I mean, look at it. You can _see _that.) The crispy crumble is beautifully crisp and totally delicious, and it contrasts the soft, luscious apples just perfectly. With a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, you’re set with the best dessert. I mean it when I call this the BEST apple crisp recipe ever. It’s my favorite dessert this season and I cannot stop making it over and over again. And what’s better than a dessert that is so freaking tasty than one that is so freaking tasty AND EASY AS CAN BE?! It’s much easier than apple pie and it’s way better in my opinion—the flavors, the textures, the richness, the simplicity!Just better.
REAL FOOD TALK – HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS FOR THIS APPLECRISP RECIPE
Most flour you buy is “enriched” or “fortified” with vitamins that are nothing more than potentially very harmful ingredients that are added into your flour. It’s not natural and it’s not safe. It’s just a marketing tool to trick you into buying something youthink is healthy.
Meanwhile, these ingredients wreak havoc on your system and even worse, are fed to children whose systems aren’t meant to handle these unnatural additives in unnatural levels. CHILDREN WHO ARE FED FOODS WITH ADDED VITAMINS ARE AT AN INCREASED RISK FOR TOXICITY(SOURCE

And unfortunately, the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements as drugs even though they affect your body and health. And not in a good way. Contrary to dogma and popular belief, you can absolutely overdose from too much of these added vitamins and minerals. They can cause liver and nervous system damage (source ). If you’re already eating a variety of meats, fruits, and vegetables then you don’t need supplements/added vitamins in your diet. And if you’re not already eating this variety of food, then start eating variety to get vitamins in the natural and healthy way. I totally believe shortcuts when it comes to health have led to all our healthissues.
So just eat real food. WHEN BUYING ANY PACKAGED FOOD OR FLOURS, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO ADDED VITAMINS IN THE INGREDIENTS LIST. USUALLY ORGANIC FLOUR WILL NOT CONTAIN ADDED VITAMINS AND IT HAS THE ADDED BENEFIT OF NOT HAVING ANY PESTICIDES AND HERBICIDES. That brings me to the apples. Make sure they’re organic to avoid glyphosate that’s in herbicides. Herbicides and pesticides work by damaging living organisms and rinsing fruit that’s sprayed with them will not protect you because these chemicals are in the soil and make their way into the plants. ORGANIC MEANS NORMAL AND NATURAL. SPRAYING PLANTS WITH HARMFUL CHEMICALS IS THE UNNATURAL FAD. As for butter, I recommend grass-fed because the cows that make this butter are eating what’s natural to them as they graze free on pastures. And don’t be wary of eating butter. First you combine the brown sugar with a squeeze of lemon juice, flour, salt, and water. Set that aside while you prepare the apples. Prepare the apples by peeling and slicing your granny smiths. You want them very thinly sliced (approximately 1/8 inch-thick). Place apples in a 9×9-inch baking dish and set aside to prepare the crispycrumble.
To make the crispy crumble, combine flour, oats, sugar, butter, salt, and cinnamon. That’s it. Then pour the sauce over the apples and give it a mix to combine well. Then use your fingers to top with the crispy crumble. Then just pop it into a 375 degree Fahrenheit oven for 37 minutes or until bubbly and golden. Enjoy with some vanilla ice-cream!
