OUR FAVORITE DECORATIVE BOOKS & HOW TO USE THEM Tuesday, May 19, 2020 When we pull up to an install there is one thing that we are NEVER without and that is a big box full of coffee table books. Although the term “coffee table books” often refers to the books you stack on your cocktail table they can really be used in a huge variety of places. We use beautiful designer books all over our homes and the homes of our clients! _In a Tray _| The first and most important thing that books do is add height. We will often throw cute things into a tray only to find that, when we take a step back, the items disappear. The addition of books adds height to even the smallest of accessories and the beautiful covers add so much interest when you peer closer into the tray.read more

SOFA PAIRING TIPS
Thursday, April 9, 2020 When we design a living room we are often pairing two different sofas together instead of two matching pieces. While we love the look of two matching sofas, it’s definitely a more formal look. We think two of the same sofas is a great look for a traditional living room or a room that is smaller and needs the continuity of matching sofas. Mismatched pieces can give your room so much personality and life and the optionsare limitless!
In our Modern Farmhouse Project we wanted to keep things neutral so we picked two sofas in gray and cream. Both furniture pieces have transitional lines to keep the space feeling a little more formal but the neutral fabric we picked is still light and airy feeling.read more

KITCHEN CABINET COLOR COMBOS Wednesday, April 1, 2020 When it comes to designing a kitchen we always love a little variation with the island and the perimeter cabinetry. You can’t go wrong with cabinets that are the same color but mixing it up brings so much more character to the space. There are no rules with how to choose colors or stains but there are a few combinations that will always win. Here are a few of our favorites.GREEN & NATURAL OAK
Remember a few years ago when navy was all the rage in kitchen cabinetry? Well, we still love a navy moment in the kitchen but these days green is the new navy. We are seeing green in all kinds of applications in the home but, we especially love it in a kitchen. It’s important to find just the perfect shade of green, something with almost a historical feel to it is a good choice.read more

LAST WEEK’S LINKS
Monday, March 30, 2020 It’s hard, at this point, to wrap our heads around “Last Week”. The weeks have started blurring together and we find ourselves still trying to find our footing in this new world we’re living in. For the most part we are continuing on with our lives as normal but there is a heightened sense of uncertainty and anxiety that follows us around like a shadow we can’t shake. Although we live day by day in a state of not knowing what’s next we are managing to find a lot of joy in the things we’ve always loved and enjoyed. Our work has always been a source of fulfillment for us and now, more than ever, it offers a pleasant and happy distraction from any uncertainty that we may be feeling day to day. We are so grateful for our clients who continue to trust us with their homes, money and time. We do not take their projects for granted and we feel lucky to be able to keep doingwhat we love to do.

LAST WEEK’S LINKS
Monday, March 23, 2020 This Victorian Arts and Crafts home is full of so many incredible details. We love the arch at details leading from room to room, the carved fireplace surround, and the mullioned windows in the hallway alcove and in the kitchen. The kitchen is so beautiful with it’s dark, recessed cabinets and the juxtaposition of the soft marble countertops paired with the rustic metal pendant lights. Check out the tour right here.
Today, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite small businesses to help them out during this difficult time. If you’re a position to help, we know that anything would be so appreciated by them. And as always, thanks so much for your love and support of our team here at House of Jade Interiors.read more

The wooden built-ins with the white shiplap and the beautiful brick pavers in the herringbone pattern. These timeless elements will keep this mudroom feeling classic for years to come. 1. Have you seen Rachel Parcel’s new home ? It was furnished by our friends over at Alice Lane and we just love it all so much. Can you even handle that view from her living room? Breathtaking! 2. Speaking of her home, you can shop Alice Lane’s collection of items from Rachel’s home right here . We love these French countryside sketches . 3. This blouse is so simple and pretty. We love it for the upcoming warm weather. 4. Elle Decor did an interesting round-up of 54 Decorating Trends they hope to never see come back.
While we definitely agree with a lot of them (we’re looking at you popcorn ceilings and window valances), there were some that are definitely coming back in good ways. What are your thoughts? 5. Loving this sunhat withthat cute scarf!
6. Did you know we have an Amazon store front? It’s full of
things we’ve purchased for our own homes and love to use regularly. 7. These animal print sandals are so cute! And such agreat price.

TIPS FOR DECORATING A SMALL BATHROOM Wednesday, February 19, 2020 Today we want to share our tips for designing a small bathroom that doesn’t sacrifice style. The number one thing we do is to always have something that’s a statement. Because it’s a small space, you need something that’s visually interesting in there. That could be your vanity, or it could be wall tile or wallpaper, lighting. Something needs to stand out and be visually interesting. In Erin’s powder bathroom, the brass faucet and artwork really stand out. We love the bold look of brass against a clean, white backdrop. And never underestimate the character a single piece of vintage art can bring to a space. The colors in the painting add depth to the space while still allowing it to be neutral and calming.read more

HOW TO STYLE DARK SHELVING Tuesday, February 11, 2020 When it comes to styling dark shelves, you have really be careful about everything you add in. Too dark and it will blend in with the shelving. Too much of one color and it will feel flat. So today, we’re going to walk you through how we styled the shelving in the office of our Midway Remodel and then at the end, we’ve rounded-up some of our favorite items for styling on dark shelves. When it comes to styling shelves, it’s important to consider scale. You don’t want a lot of little things because then the shelves will feel cluttered and messy. It’s important to vary the sizes of the objects you’re using that way you can have some items that stand alone, allowing for some empty space around them, giving the shelves room to breathe. Additionally, varying heights and sizes also makes the overall look more appealing to the eyes as it gives them space to rest but also encourages movement.read more
