CLEVER TIPS AND TRICKS USING A SEWING GAUGE Point turner: Use the pointed end to poke the corner right side out when turning corners. The rounded, beveled end smoothes out curves and seams. Circle: You need to anchor the pivoting point by putting a pin (where is the arrow) and your marking pen or pencil through the hole near the pointed end. Rotate around the pin to draw a perfect circle. DIY DENIM DUNGAREE DRESS TUTORIAL. Fold on the line right sides together. On the wrong side sew the seam allowance and trim as shown. Fold it and press the armhole seam in place. Create your straps. Fold the pieces in half lengthways right sides together and sew all along the length. Turn SEWING 101: KNOW YOUR PRESSER FOOT Sewing 101: Know your presser foot. {A} Button hole foot: Application: As the name describes, this presser foot is used for making button holes. Make your modifications. Add fitting insurance. Specially if you are not making a muslin. Fitting insurance is a couple of cm or inches on your side seams, or centre back. This project would have costed me: $71 (equivalent £48.77) *without lining. Circle: You need to anchor the pivoting point by putting a pin (where is the arrow) and your marking pen or pencil through the hole near the pointed end. VINTAGE SIMPLICITY 7239 Most of the vintage patterns that I buy are mainly for the artwork or in hope to preserve it for the future. A true 60’s pattern featuring front and back seams, extended neckline, raglan sleeves and sleeve head dart. TYPES OF LINGERIE ELASTICS Plush Elastic: This is used to finish the edges of a bra. It has a brushed -felted inner surface. You may find some with one picot edge. Feels comfortable against the skin. Stretch lace: The ones specially for lingeries are most commonly used for lace bras, negliges, knickers and half slips. Most common widths specified on sewing patterns are 2 DIY DENIM DUNGAREE DRESS TUTORIAL. Fold on the line right sides together. On the wrong side sew the seam allowance and trim as shown. Fold it and press the armhole seam in place. Create your straps. Fold the pieces in half lengthways right sides together and sew all along the length. Turn ADJUSTING COMERCIAL PATTERNS ‘CUP SIZES’ ON PRINCESS SEAMS Slash the pattern vertically from the waist just to but not through the side neck. Spread the slashes on both patterns pieces in both directions, The guideline is 1/2 in per cup size increase. (in metric is aprox 1,27 cm). Redraw the cutting lines. Just reminder the guideline is just that and can be easily pinned out at the side seamsduring
