Hope Against Hate. All New Yorkers deserve to feel safe going to work, getting on the subway to meet friends, or taking their kids to school. But since January 2020, New York’s Asian communities have been violently attacked on our city’s streets. Between February 2020 and February 2021, there were over 1,100 attacks on Asian New Yorkers. To be a Full Member of the Asian American Federation you must: Provide services that advance the human service interests of Asian Americans through direct service, public policy and/or advocacy work. In 2016, a government survey showed that only 41% of Asian New Yorkers eligible to vote were registered, and only 31% of Asian registered voters turned out for the 2016 elections.
