Drawing on the concepts of citizenship, the relationship to our environment and inter-faith relationships, we'll examine how people have migrated, sought refuge, and settled, in and out of Africa. MUEDA, MEMORIA E MASSACRE (1979) :: AFRICA IN MOTION Lost until 2009, when it was rediscovered in Maputo’s archives, Mueda, Memória e Massacre by Ruy Guerra is a central work of Cinema Novo. Generally considered to be the first fiction feature film from independent Mozambique, it is a masterpiece of anti-colonial memory. FILMS :: AFRICA IN MOTION 2017-2019 was a very special period for the consortium of the five African Film Festivals in the UK, TANO (‘five’ in Swahili) and many other international partners on four continents - we screened films in Africa, America, Australia and Europe. AFRICAN FILM DATABASE :: AFRICA IN MOTION African Film Database. The African Film Database is a new platform, developed by the Africa in Motion Film Festival, providing anyone with an interest in African cinema with the ability to search through a catalogue of over 1,500 films. Volunteers are a crucial part to the festival’s success and we value them greatly. No previous experience is necessary to apply, so please get involved! Travel expenses of up to £15 will be reimbursed for volunteers travelling to and fromfestival shifts.

Likewise, the awareness of white privilege within the feminist movement is growing, and so women in African cinema rightly demand their screen time ever more forcefully. EXHIBITION: AFRICAN FILM Exhibition: African Film - Looking Back Through the Lens. We curated a large exhibition African Film: Looking Back Through the Lens at three locations in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
