AFRICA RISING
West Africa. Activities are implemented within 25 communities in three regions of northern Ghana (Upper East, Upper West, and Northern) and in nine villages in the Bougouni and Koutiala districts of the Sikasso Region in southern Mali. AFRICA RISING AND GRATIS FOUNDATION TRAIN FARMERS IN Africa RISING and GRATIS Foundation collaborate to promote mechanization of post harvest maize shelling through trainings in three regions of Northern Ghana between 11 -POSTHARVEST
The Africa RISING project recently trained members of 21 farmer groups (from 21 communities) in northern Ghana on how to put in place and apply collective agreements for NEXT GENERATION RISING (VIDEO) In this video 21-year old Olais Lukumay shares why he opted not to seek formal employment unlike most of his age mates. This is the story of youth engagement and technology transfer from one generation to the next within the Africa RISING project. FORAGES – AFRICA RISING Bekelech Belachew, a farmer in Jaw Kebele near Hossanna town, was recognized for her achievements during an Africa RISING farmer's field visit day in the town on 5 November 2019. PROGRAM COORDINATION TEAM The Africa RISING program has no centralized management entity. The Program Coordination Team (PCT), taking decisions by consensus, ensures a common understanding of sustainable intensification (SI) and its potential contribution to Feed the Future goals across the threeregional projects.
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: INTERCROPPING NAPIER GRASS WITH This intervention builds upon previous Africa RISING work with farmers in the same communities. Back in 2014/2016, the project worked with farmers to carry out a comparative yield performance and fodder quality assessment for different Napier grass varieties and out of this work the best varieties were recommended. The project team had also, in 2017, evaluated the prospects of TREE LUCERNE: AN AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE LIVESTOCK FEED The challenge In tropical Africa, livestock productivity is challenged, among others, by feed shortage and high seasonality in the availability and quality of feed resources (Bezabih et al. 2014).AFRICA RISING
