A DRIBBLE OF INK
It is with an equal helping of bittersweet melancholy and bright-eyed excitement that I am announcing the closure of A Dribble of Ink today. A Dribble of Ink first opened in 2007, when I was a freshly graduated web development student, and in the intervening years has turned into the most passionate and rewarding professional and personal project ofmy life so far.

Okay, so maybe you’ve seen a full map of Arda before, but it’s always fun to find a new look at an old favourite. This map really helps to put into perspective the journeys of Frodo and Bilbo, showing that they trek over only a small portion of the entirety of Middle Earth and Ardaitself.

2020 AWARD ELIGIBILITY: BEST FAN WRITER » AIDAN MOHER—HUGO I am personally eligible for Best Fan Writer awards. This is the category I think best represents my body of work in 2020 across all the various different platforms, magazines, and publications. All of my essays are eligible for Best Related Work, but I would be particularly pleased if REVIEW OF THRONE OF THE CRESCENT MOON BY SALADIN AHMED Throne of the Crescent Moon reads like the debut novel of someone who spent years honing his craft. Told through a surprising number of points of view (I count six off the top of my head), Throne of the Crescent Moon is a quintessential sword and sorcery novel. The characters are world weary, cynical, and fatally flawed. "TIPS FOR WRITING LOCKED-ROOM MYSTERIES" BY MARK CHARAN 8) Do your research. As with any type of fiction, be familiar with the format and genre, else you’ll look a bit of a fool. Read other locked-room mysteries. Watched lots of film or TV that features a locked-room mystery. Work out how others do it, what the mechanisms are, what the distractions are. "GENE WOLFE: THE RELIABLY UNRELIABLE AUTHOR" BY CHRIS GERWEL At first blush, Wolfe writes science fiction and fantasy. His work features alien planets (The Fifth Head of Cerberus), time travel (The Book of the New Sun), spaceships (The Book of the Long Sun), ghosts (Peace), alternate realities (There Are Doors), monsters and gods and demons (too many titles to list) – most every science fictional trope one could possibly name. A MEMORY OF LIGHT HAS A 50,000 WORD CHAPTER WITH 70-80 So, you might want to file this one away in the ‘Useless Genre Knowledge’ drawer, but I was a little shocked when, in an interview with Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing, Jason Denzel, webmaster of Dragonmount, and one of the few people who have read A Memory of Light, mentioned that there is a chapter in the final Wheel of Time novel that is 50,000 words long and contains as many as 70-80 REVIEW OF CROWN OF SWORDS BY ROBERT JORDAN Jordan never really was a good sentence crafter, but here it felt as though he were using sentences of character and clothing description to cover up perceived deficiencies in the dialogues. It is sad that a running joke about this series is that of women sniffing while PATRICK ROTHFUSS SELLS NEW TRILOGY TO DAW BOOKS Patrick Rothfuss Sells New Trilogy to DAW Books.
