The Painter and Collector Kaspar Ilg. THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION The archaeological collection comprises finds from Canton Schaffhausen and its neighbouring regions. It evolved from the holdings of historical and antiquarian associations and is constantly supplemented by new finds discovered by the canton’s Archaeology Department.. Since introduction of the Swiss Civil Code (Zivilgesetzbuch ZGB 1907), artefacts retrieved from the ground are considered the ARCHAEOLOGY IN THE REGION Archaeology in the region. The city of Schaffhausen built the Museum zu Allerheiligen in the years between 1921 and 1938 as a place to preserve and present the large art and historical collections compiled by associations and private individuals over many decades. EBNÖTHER ARCHAEOLOGICAL COLLECTION Ebnöther Archaeological Collection. This collection of antiquities with over 6,000 objects is of international significance. It was compiled by the passionate collector Dr. Marcel Ebnöther (1920–2008) and donated to the city of Schaffhausen in 1991. Ebnöther’s personal passion was for comparing works from the pre-Columbian world with EARLY ADVANCED CIVILIZATIONS The current presentation of the antiquities collection of the collector Marcel Ebnöther (1920–2008) was opened in August 2013. Under the title “Early Advanced Civilizations: From Mesopotamia to South America,” it brings together over 550 choice finds from various advanced civilizations and regions of the Old and New Worlds. STURZENEGGER FOUNDATION The Sturzenegger foundation was established on 26 February 1987 by Dr. Hans and Claire Sturzenegger-Jeanfavre. The founder grew up as the son of a member of the governing council, Dr. Fritz Sturzenegger, in the Belair manor in Schaffhausen. The museum was to convey a comprehensive view of the local culture ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY OF THE MONASTERY COMPLEX The monastery is believed to have been founded in 1049. On 22 November Pope Leo IX consecrated the site between the city and the Rhine along with an altar. In 1064 the construction of the Nellenburgs’ family monastery was completed. It was dedicated to the Savior, the True Cross, the Virgin Mary, and All Saints. CULTURAL HISTORY COLLECTION Cultural History Collection. The Painter and Collector Kaspar Ilg. This exhibition recognizes the donation from the heirs of the artist and collector Kaspar Ilg (1921–2011) and his wife Anita (1934–2017), which was made to the museum in 2018. ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY OF THE MONASTERY COMPLEX The monastery is believed to have been founded in 1049. On 22 November Pope Leo IX consecrated the site between the city and the Rhine along with an altar. In 1064 the construction of the Nellenburgs’ family monastery was completed. It was dedicated to the Savior, the True Cross, the Virgin Mary, and All Saints. BENI BISCHOF & FRUCTUOSO/WIPF The second edition of the exhibition Doppio features the artist duo fructuoso/wipf (*1987 in Schaffhausen, *1982 in Wildensbuch) and Beni Bischof (*1976 in Widnau). The exhibition is planned as a dialogue suffused with sharp humor and unbridled imagination.
