REVIEW OF CHICAGO AMERICAN RESTAURANT ALINEA BY ANDY Alinea (a linea is the Latin symbol ¶ for a new paragraph) had been substantially refurbished since my last visit, and there are now two different meal “experiences”, the “salon” and the “gallery” menus. This is the first restaurant of Jonny Lake, who was formerly executive head chef of the Fat Duck for twelve years, so is a man who knows quite a lot about snail porridge. REVIEW OF FRENCH RESTAURANT THE RITZ IN PICCADILLY BY ANDY There are assorted menus at the Ritz but I usually let the kitchen surprise me with whatever is best at the time of year. A five course tasting menu was priced at £105 and a seven course one was £125. A three course lunch menu cost £60 at the time of writing. The meal began with a few familiar nibbles. REVIEW OF BRAY BRITISH RESTAURANT THE WATERSIDE INN BY The Waterside Inn holds an historic place in British culinary history. Opened in September 1972 by Michel Roux, it gained a Michelin star in the brand-new Michelin UK guide in 1974, a second in 1977 and the ultimate third star in 1985, which it has retained ever since. REVIEW OF SPANISH SAN SEBASTIAN RESTAURANT IBAI BY ANDY The first proper dish was lobster served simply with a citrus dressing. The quality of shellfish was superb, very lightly cooked, the flavour glorious, the dressing adding a little acidity to balance the flavor of the lobster (18/20). Next was a plate of grilled mixed wild mushrooms. This may not sound very exciting but the flavour ofthem was
REVIEW OF BRITISH RESTAURANT THE DYSART IN RICHMOND BY I have written several times about the Dysart, so please see my previous reviews for general background, more about the chef and former Roux scholar Kenneth Culhane and the wine list. This latest meal was a leisurely lunch, beginning with a plate of canapes. Pressed cucumber with Japanese lime was harmless enough but didn’t reallyadd much to me.
REVIEW OF LONDON AFRICAN RESTAURANT IKOYI IN ST JAMES BY Ikoyi opened in the summer of 2017, an unusual venture in St James that is attempting to bring a fine dining approach to West African cuisine. Chef and owner Jeremy Chan, a former energy analyst who has cooked at Dinner and did a three-month stage at Noma, has teamed up with Nigerian born Iré Hassan-Odukale. The latter was born in theaffluent

The a la carte menu had starters priced from £12 to £18, main courses £24 - £30 and desserts £9 - REVIEW OF SPANISH SAN SEBASTIAN RESTAURANT IBAI BY ANDY The first proper dish was lobster served simply with a citrus dressing. The quality of shellfish was superb, very lightly cooked, the flavour glorious, the dressing adding a little acidity to balance the flavor of the lobster (18/20). Next was a plate of grilled mixed wild mushrooms. This may not sound very exciting but the flavour ofthem was
