BANGLADESH: ANALYSIS OF THE DIGITAL SECURITY ACT In this analysis, ARTICLE 19 reviews the compatibility of the Bangladesh Digital Security Act 2018 (the 2018 Act), adopted in October 2018, for its compliance with international standards on freedom of expression. Our analysis is based on Bangladesh’s obligations under international human rights standards, in particular those on the right to freedom of expression, as MYANMAR: TELECOMMUNICATIONS LAW In March 2017, ARTICLE 19 analysed the Telecommunications Law 2013 (the Law) in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for its compliance with international freedom of expression standards. The analysis not only highlights concerns and conflicts with international human rights standards within the Law, but also actively seeks to offer constructive recommendations on how KAZAKHSTAN: REPORT ON THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION In this report, ARTICLE 19 and the Legal Media Center examine the most important elements of Kazakhstan’s legislative restrictions on freedom of expression designed to address ‘extremism’ and their implementation in practice. Most of the ‘extremism’ provisions analysed in this report are ‘hate speech’ provisions, although Kazakhstani law does not use this term.
