The Academy’s collections, which are open to scholars by appointment, contain portraits and photographs of members, as well as paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and decorative art objects. 2021 ART AWARD WINNERS New York, March 23, 2021—The American Academy of Arts and Letters announced today the 18 artists who will receive its 2021 awards in art. Due to the pandemic, the awards will be acknowledged on May 19 during the Academy’s online Ceremonial. 2021 LITERATURE AWARD WINNERS New York, March 29, 2021 – The American Academy of Arts and Letters announced today the names of 18 writers who will receive its 2021 awards in literature. 2020 INVITATIONAL EXHIBITION OF VISUAL ARTS In the interest of public health the Academy is closing its galleries for the remainder of its originally scheduled run for the Invitational Exhibition of Visual Arts. Exhibiting artists were chosen from over 150 nominees submitted by the members of the Academy, America’s most prestigious honorary society of architects, artists, composers, andwriters.

Thirteen Academy members are elected to serve on the board of directors for terms of three years. The Board is comprised of the President, two Vice-Presidents for Architecture, three Vice-Presidents for Art, three Vice-Presidents for Literature, two Vice-Presidents for Music, the Secretary, and the Treasurer. The American Academy of Arts and Letters is an honor society of the country’s 300 leading architects, artists, composers, and writers.
