ACTIVITY: EXPLORING ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE Activity Objective. To explore the culture of your organization by describing your behaviors, values, and assumptions. To reflect on which aspects of your culture are enabling or inhibiting your innovative projects. WHAT IS ORGANIZATIONAL INNOVATION? We arrived at our own working definition of innovation through our research and the work of our partner organizations in the field. It places innovation in the context of organizational change, and over the last several years our definition has achieved real traction in the field, being adopted by funders and becoming a reference point for arts and culture leaders. ACTIVITY: SIX HATS FOR PARALLEL THINKING HOW DO TEAMS WORK EFFECTIVELY? Step 2: Someone chooses a random word from a book or magazine, which the facilitator writes up. Step 3: The facilitator asks for four words associated with that word, and writes them up. Step 4: The facilitator, or the full group, selects one of those four words as particularly interesting and resonant (NB: Don’t pick any word thatseems

Cameron at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, there are four types of organizational culture: Clan, Adhocracy, Market, and Hierarchy. Clan oriented cultures are family-like, with a focus on mentoring, nurturing, and “doing thingstogether.”.
9 ROLES OF INDIVIDUALS ON TEAMS Belbin’s work uncovered nine archetypal team roles, all of which have essential parts to play in successful team work over time. Belbin’s research also gives team members a common language to help individuals form productive working relationships, develop high-performing teams, raise self-awareness, identify talent, and aidin recruitment.

In the past 10 years, unprecedented developments in the operating environment have placed radical new demands on arts and culture organizations. 10 BEHAVIORS TYPICAL OF HIGHLY INNOVATIVE LEADERS Of the forty-five capacities tested, we found that the qualities below were the 10 most typical for highly innovative leaders: 1. Say that innovation matters, and explain why. Make innovation central to your vision. Say it over and over. Praise it when you see it – and push people when you don’t. 2.
