My Independence is a suite of four certificated programmes for young people with a range of special educational needs, suitable for delivery across the UK. Mapped to the preparing for adulthood (PfA) pathways, My Independence is ASDAN’s key programme to achieve positive outcomes for young people with an education, health and careplan (EHCP).
LIFESKILLS CHALLENGE Lifeskills Challenge – www.lifeskillschallenge.org.uk – is an online bank of challenges for learners working from pre-Entry to Level 3. This programme enables centres to meet individual needs by providing a personalised curriculum for young people with SEND or those facing barriers to learning. Challenges have been mapped to thefour
FOODWISE SHORT COURSE The FoodWise Short Course offers exciting and rewarding activities to develop skills and knowledge through cooking and food preparation. This course helps learners develop practical cooking skills, as well as personal, social and work-related skills. LIFT OFF - ASDAN
Lift Off is an activity-based programme that develops soft skills and builds self-esteem to help learners make a successful transition from primary to secondary school. It consists of activities designed to develop learners' skills in 18 key characteristics that will aid theirprogression.
HISTORY SHORT COURSE The History Short Course will help young people to develop their history skills, and will be particularly relevant in preparation for the English Baccalaureate. It has been produced in collaboration with the Historical Association, who authored the curriculum, and offers a HAIR AND BEAUTY VOCATIONAL TASTER This Vocational Taster contains six modules, corresponding to different aspects of hair and beauty: Customer service. Nail services. Basic hairdressing techniques. Basic facial treatments. Health and safety in hair and beauty. Careers in hair and beauty. TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE Towards Independence provides a framework of activities to develop and accredit personal, social, work-related and independent living skills. Towards Independence offers formal recognition for small steps of achievement towards a larger goal. There are more than 70 modules, which can be used separately and accumulated to build a record of EXPRESSIVE ARTS SHORT COURSE The Expressive Arts Short Course accredits between 10–60 hours of activities. It is available in student book and e-portfolio format. Tutors should choose the most appropriate option for their situation.
