12 LARGE COMPANIES WHO DON'T OWN THEIR MAIN 12 Companies Who Forgot to Buy Their Dotcom Domains I’ve helped a few companies buy ‘their’ domain names from other owners over the last few years. Usually it’s either ‘very easy and expensive’, ‘hard but cheaper’, or just ‘totally impossible’. ABOUT DAN BARKER:
Across the years I’ve freelanced for over 100 brands, and have also worked in house, up to CMO level, and directly responsible for the management & marketing of 4x large Ecommerce sites (2x £20-25m turnover, 2x £50-60m turnover). I’ve worked with the web since the 90s. I began as a software engineer, and moved on via various data, marketing & ecommerce roles, including managing teams & departments up to C level. I now work in one of two ways: Longer term roles leading or guiding areas of business related to marketing, ecommerce, digital technology; Shorter term projects for multiple clients. Roughly 65% of my freelance work has related to ecommerce or retail, outside of that I have worked for destinations, banks, publishers, startups, and various other areas outside. This work is sometimes at an executional level, sometimes strategic, and can cover all stages from research & planning, to measurement & optimisation, to leading departments on an interim basis.
