If you grew up in or near the Southbay, 1590/KLIV was probably your station of choice for Top 40 music, great personalities — including John McLeod, Dave Sholin, Bob Ray, Jack Hayes, Ross Macgowan, Ralph Koal, Scott St. James, Ray Morgan, Mac McGregor and the inimitable Captain Mikey (Mikel Hunter Herrington) — as well as for promoting concerts KEWB COLOR RADIO CHANNEL 91, OAKLAND (1959-1966) KEWB Channel 91 Oakland, California 1959-1966. DON ROSE (1934-2005) Dr. Don had battled pneumonia for several months before he died on March 30, 2005, at his home in Concord. He was 70. In recognition of his contributions to local radio, Dr. Don Rose was inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame in 2006 as a member of the first class tobe enshrined.

CELEBRATING BAY AREA RADIO HISTORY The BAY AREA RADIO MUSEUM AND HALL OF FAME (BARHOF ) presents archival broadcasts, historical documents, photos, music surveys and biographies that tell the storiesof Bay Area radio.
We trace the history of radio in the San Francisco Bay Area from its origins in the early 20th Century through its development into a network powerhouse in the 1930s and 1940s and a thriving source of entertainment, news and sports today. A program of the CALIFORNIA HISTORICAL RADIO SOCIETY (CHRS), the Museum and Hall of Fame celebrates the men and women who helped build the stations and presented the programs that entertained millions of listeners over more than a century. The Museum and Hall of Fame are a key component of CHRS, sharing a home in the magnificent Radio Central building near downtown Alameda, as well as presenting numerous exhibits on this website and celebrating new members of the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fameeach Fall.
