REVIEW OF SYNASTRY
Review written by Corin Geypen. Canadian groove metal band Synastry releases its fourth EP, called “Dividing the Double Helix” after returning to the scene in 2020. REVIEW OF REALITY GREY The beginning of “Kings Of Nothing” is a whirlwind you get swept up in almost immediately. I’m amazed at the range of Tommy’sscreams and growls.
INTERVIEW WITH EVIL INVADERS Ah, the Evil Invaders. Certainly one of the hottest Belgian metal bands in recent years. It took me a while before I finally caught a gig with them. Eventually, it became December 3, 2015 in Opwijk that I and the band first met. And as you could’ve already expected, I wasted no time asking the band for an intimate conversation. And both me and the Evil Invaders had a damn good time talking to INTERVIEW WITH VITAL REMAINS Vital Remains’ performance in Deinze (July 18, 2015) is easily the most intense concert I’ve had in months. Despite the place being no bigger than a closet the band, me, and the other people in attendance had an awesome and memorable time.I asked Tony Lazaro, the Vital Remains’ guitarist and its last remaining founding member, for a shredding chat after the show. And man, was it anREVIEW OF THORIUM
One of the bands I had the most fun to shred through in 2018 was the Belgian heavy metal band Thorium. I remember 3 of its band members INTERVIEW WITH SHAÂRGHOT Back in fall 2017 Dennis Aspeele, organizer of the Rock Balegem festival, began teasing me and the fans about the lineup for Rock Balegem 2018! One of his teaser images was the symbol of the Paris-based trance and industrial metal band Shaârghot! I hadn’t heard of the band before but after watching their music videos I was hyped as fuck! This webzine deals with Belgian and international metal alike with CD-reviews, interviews, festival previews and more. But this isn't your typical webzine, as my CD-reviews go into plenty of detail about not just the songs, but also INTERVIEW WITH SPLENDIDULA I was invited by non-profit organization The Lizard to come over to their inaugural edition of Doomsday I (November 18, 2017). The lineup was headlined by established doom metal act Marche Funèbre and also featured up and coming doom metal bands Growing Horns, Loose License and Splendidula. As the festival was wrapping up, I sat together with Splendidula to talk about the band’s origins INTERVIEW WITH THE HELL PATROL At the awesome festival FireFest on September 3, 2016 I had interviews with John L. and Sythera (COMING SOON). And you know, I had such a great time during the festival and during these interviews that I decided to go for a bonus round! And my choice went to the Judas Priest cover band the Hell Patrol.Since both me and the band have a shared love for the metal gods, the topics naturallyREVIEW OF SYNASTRY

Review written by Corin Geypen. Confession time: I have never listened to Nile before. My metal pub would play them regularly, I’m sure, but I never picked up a CD and really listened. REVIEW OF MEMORIES OF OLD The composition of the album is really story like, it starts with an introduction and ends with a real finale. This is mostly because Billy Jeffs, the founder of Memories Of Old, started The Zeramin Game as a book, but it’s also a great way to making a nice cohesive album. REVIEW OF NEXT DOOR TO HEAVEN Review written by Corin Geypen. Before receiving the “Inside” EP from Stijn, I had never heard of the Russian progressive metalcore act Next Door to Heaven. REVIEW OF BEYOND THE PALE Review written by Stijn "Metal Shredder" Daneels. As with many other debuting bands in the past, Beyond The Pale personally contacted us to check out their first recordedmaterial.
INTERVIEW WITH MARIANAS REST BMS: Hello Jaakko & Nico! It’s great to have you here on Skype. First off, congratulations for getting a contract with Napalm Records. They have plenty of A-list metal bands on their roster and I’m sure you must be thrilled to be part of this prestigious label. REVIEW OF BEYOND THE LABYRINTH Beyond The Labyrinth is a band that I’ve been following closely for the past 4 years, ever since discovering and reviewing their “The INTERVIEW WITH DANGEROUS TIMES FOR THE DEAD Interview written and conducted by Stijn “Metal Shredder” Daneels with assistance from Marjolein “Mrs. Metal Shredder.”One very fun band that Marjolein “Mrs. Metal Shredder” introduced me to was the Dutch old-school heavy metal act Dangerous Times For The Dead. After playing one of their already published tunes on our radio show Belgian Metal Shredder On Air and eventually their INTERVIEW WITH CHALICE On June 29, 2018 I went to metal youth bar Asgaard for a gig of the melodic death and thrash metal band Chalice. In April I had included the song Eternal Sleep from their latest album Ashes Of Hope on Shredder Sunday and thus getting them shredded for real had to be done! So before their gig at Asgaard we sat together to celebrate Chalice’s 20th anniversary, the band’s much improved INTERVIEW WITH MAVERICK I was invited to go to WildFest 2017 and have a chat with Maverick’s lead singer David Balfour. This friendly Northern-Irishman and I discussed topics like the advice he learned from his shows with well-established music acts like Tigertailz and Y&T, the production of Maverick’s latest album, Big Red, and why it’s important for both band and audience to have a great supporting act. INTERVIEW WITH ROMY CONZEN On June 3, 2017 I jumped on my bike to go to the More Blues Festival in Zottegem to talk with pop rock artist Romy Conzen. What? Pop rock on the Metal Shredder? Does that mean I’m selling-out? That from now on I’m going to be known as the Pop Shredder? Don’t worry, my friend, I’m not getting civilized just yet! But seriously, as with every other band I’ve covered on this site I dig INTERVIEW WITH LEGION OF THE DAMNED I had my work cut out during the Evil Or Die Fest (October 15, 2016) as I had no less than four interviews during that event. And as if Spoil Engine, the Curse of Millhaven and After All weren't enough, I also had the chance to talk to Legion of the Damned! So what do I discuss with a band that has already appeared at Graspop Metal Meetingmultiple times?

REVIEW OF BEYOND THE LABYRINTH Of those 3 vintage tracks it’s “Shine” that has seen the biggest transformation. While the original was a pretty bare-bones song (although Geert did a sweet job with the vocals), this new version is faster-paced and puts much more emphasis on the keyboards, creating a more energetic experience, which I believe had always been Geert’s intention with that particular song back when he had INTERVIEW WITH THE HELL PATROL At the awesome festival FireFest on September 3, 2016 I had interviews with John L. and Sythera (COMING SOON). “Jack of all Spades” is the second EP from the Code Noir and is released through the Swedish record label Leviaphonic Records. This 5-track release begins with the aforementioned single “The Devil Within,” a catchy tune which features elements from Black Sabbath, Motörhead as well as stoner rock in general. REVIEW OF BEYOND THE LABYRINTH Of those 3 vintage tracks it’s “Shine” that has seen the biggest transformation. While the original was a pretty bare-bones song (although Geert did a sweet job with the vocals), this new version is faster-paced and puts much more emphasis on the keyboards, creating a more energetic experience, which I believe had always been Geert’s intention with that particular song back when he had MALFESTED - BELGIAN METAL SHREDDER Fresh victims for the ever-growing army of the undead! Review written by Stijn Daneels on 28/11/20 Read More REVIEW OF HORRORWISH “No Place to Hide” is the debut album from Gio Smet’s latest solo project Horrorwish. Gio’s earlier musical experiences include the aforementioned Giotopia as well as bands like Gitaron, Devil’s Desire and Sons Of The Migrator and finally several collaborations with artists like Fabio Lione (Rhapsody), Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), Herbie Langhans (Avantasia) and Apollo PapathanasioREVIEW OF ÃTER
Aside from the butchered production, this first taste of Ater is still more than enjoyable! It ticks off all the necessary black metal boxes with plenty of blood, guts and screams and since Ater has now transformed into a fully fledged band (starting a new era of Ater, as Wesley himself proclaims), me and the other Shredders are more than interested in seeing how this new Ater will be. REVIEW OF MEMORIES OF OLD The composition of the album is really story like, it starts with an introduction and ends with a real finale. REVIEW OF BLEED SOMEONE DRY Track 8, “Agoraphobia” is a more experimental song wherein the usual death and mathcore stuff gets mixed up with industrial beats. The next song “Elysium” is a meditative song which features a robotic voice reading Charlie Chaplin’s iconic ending speech from “The Great Dictator” while the moody instruments gradually become more numerous and intense.
