NONFARM PAYROLL EMPLOYMENT INCREASED BY 559,000 IN MAY Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 559,000 in May 2021, following increases of 278,000 in April and 785,000 in March. In May, nonfarm payroll employment was down by 7.6 million, or 5.0 percent, from its pre-pandemic level in February 2020. Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, in public and private education, and in health care and social assistance in May. The CE program provides these data in tables, LABSTAT database, news releases, reports, and public use microdata files.. CE data are collected by the Census Bureau for BLS in two surveys, the Interview Survey for major and/or recurring items DAYS OF JOB TRANSFER OR RESTRICTION (DJTR) COLLECTION Days of Job Transfer or Restriction (DJTR) Collection.
