There will be a steam test in the week ahead. Normally this would be done with the boiler still out of the frames, but as the boiler was in such good condition and the time was ever pressing I guess, the decision was made to press on and get the boiler fitted.* Visit

BLUEBELL RAILWAY PRESERVATION SOCIETY The volunteer-run Bluebell Railway was the UK’s first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1960. Since then it has developed into one of the largest tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its objectives of the preservation for posterity of a country branch line, its steam locomotives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices. The Society, and thus its Trustees and members, own a majority shareholding in the Railway (a not-for profit company), and set the overall policy of the Railway. The Bluebell Railway has grown through the strength of its members which now totals over 10,000. As the railway continues to develop there is a need for more members and volunteers to achieve its aimsand objectives.

The Bluebell Railway is a not-for-profit organisation, with no financial reserves. The Appeal is to enable us to re-engage our skilled staff and volunteers to get the railway "back to normal" after the lock-down, since we will be facing a period with lower than normal income, whilst our normal running costs will still have to be met. PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY TO ENSURE OUR SURVIVAL AT THIS DIFFICULT TIME.
