The Colored Museum originally premiered at Crossroads Theatre Company in 1986, which is fitting since they are hosting the stream on their website.. DOUGLAS TURNER WARD AND THE NEGRO ENSEMBLE COMPANY On February 20th, 2021 Douglas Turner Ward (playwright, actor, director, and theatrical producer) a pillar in the Black theatre community passed away. Ward founded The Negro Ensemble Company with Robert Hooks and Gerald Krone in 1967. By the time Ward had come together with Krone and Hooks to create The Negro Ensemble Company, he had already been on Broadway in the original MY BOOK OF MORMON FAMILY BY KIMBERLY EXUM, BROADWAY'S I felt the need to express some thoughts about The Book of Mormon since I currently play Nabulungi in the Broadway company. I shared a video the other day from a fellow Black member of the theatre community where he shares his experiences with racism in the industry and it ended by stating that “the Book of Mormon is racist”. I want to begin by saying that I believe the material in the WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR PASSION BECOMES YOUR PRISON? What Happens When Your Passion Becomes Your Prison? The mental state of the black creative is oftentimes overlooked. We must discuss it. Let’s start with some statistics: 13.4 percent of the U.S. population identifies as black or African American; of that percentage, over 16% reported having a mental illness within the pastyear.

I shared a video the other day from a fellow Black member of the theatre community where he shares his experiences with racism in the industry and it ended by stating that “the Book of Mormon is racist”. I want to begin by saying that I believe the material in the WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR PASSION BECOMES YOUR PRISON? What Happens When Your Passion Becomes Your Prison? The mental state of the black creative is oftentimes overlooked. We must discuss it. Let’s start with some statistics: 13.4 percent of the U.S. population identifies as black or African American; of that percentage, over 16% reported having a mental illness within the pastyear.

Wolfe’s The Colored Museum is now streaming online from February 3 rd through February 28 th.. The Colored Museum originally premiered at Crossroads Theatre Company in 1986, which is fitting since they are hosting the stream on their website.. The show features 11 scenes designed to satirize stereotypes in Black culture, bring awareness, and, ultimately MY BOOK OF MORMON FAMILY BY KIMBERLY EXUM, BROADWAY'S I felt the need to express some thoughts about The Book of Mormon since I currently play Nabulungi in the Broadway company. I shared a video the other day from a fellow Black member of the theatre community where he shares his experiences with racism in the industry and it ended by stating that “the Book of Mormon is racist”.
