WHO WAS CARDINAL HUME Follow the links below to the obituaries of Cardinal Hume from the National Papers: Cardinal Basil Hume, OM, who has died aged 76, was an outstandingly popular Archbishop of Westminster whose sincerity and expertly judged public pronouncements strengthened both the reputation and the self-confidence of Roman Catholics in England and Wales. LIVED EXPERIENCE OF FAMILIES LIVING IN TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION The Cardinal Hume Centre and Home-Start Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammersmith & Fulham have successfully secured funds from Westminster Foundation to commission a piece of research that will enable us to better understand the lived experience and support needs of families who are placed in temporary accommodation by WestminsterCity Council.
YOUNG PERSONS’ HOSTEL Young Persons’ Hostel. Our supported accommodation provides homeless young people between the ages of 16-24 with a place to call home, as well as the help needed to reach their full potential and equip them to thrive in adult life. There are 32 single bedrooms in the main building, with shared kitchens, lounges, games rooms, IT suite, shower PERSON CENTRED APPROACH By taking this approach we are able to move away from simply categorising someone as homeless, a single parent, unemployed, a migrant or asylum seeker, and tailor our services to meet a person’s specific and often complex needs. Our ultimate goal is to help people achieve greater resilience and wellbeing. Our work is targeted towards NEW IMMIGRATION PROJECT FOR HOMELESS YOUNG PEOPLE New Horizon is seeking to appoint an individual, organisation or consortium for an external evaluation of ‘Hotel 1824’. Together with our partners we aim to take the learning from this project to make sure the needs of young people facing rough sleeping remain acted upon. The budget for this work is £25,000, inclusive of VAT andexpenses.
