Although the St. John’s Medical College was founded in 1963, it was conceived twenty years earlier when Dr. Sr. Mary Glowery of the Sacred Heart Congregation proposed that the Catholic Hospitals Associations of India consider the establishment of a Catholic medical college to serve the various social welfare institutions belonging to the Catholic Church in India. Sambalpur: A three-day seminar on the theme ‘Dalit Empowerment-An Ethical Imperative for a Just Odisha’ was held by Khristo Jyoti College (KJC), Regional Commission for Clergy, Priests and Religious Odisha, with the association of Odisha Forum for Social Action (OFSA), Nov 27-29. CATHOLIC BISHOPS' CONFERENCE OF INDIA Importance: 1) The last two precious gifts given to us by Jesus are the Holy Eucharist as our spiritual food on Holy Thursday and Jesus’ mother Mary as our spiritual mother on Good Friday 2) Corpus Christi is the celebration of the abiding presence of a loving God as Emmanuel – God with us – in order to give collective thanks to our Lord for his living with us in the Eucharist.
