WHAT I LOVE (AND HATE) ABOUT LIVING IN AUSTRALIA The food: Vegemite, Milo, pavlova–what’s not to love?Plus, I swear Australia does a better brekky and a better coffee than anywhere else in world. Sunday sessions: There’s no better way to end the weekend than a few cheeky ciders and acoustic music with good friends. My personal favorite is The Branch in St Kilda: great music, $5 pizzas and always plenty of eye candy. EXPERIENCE, TRAVEL: THESE ARE EDUCATION IN THEMSELVES Experience, travel: these are an education in themselves. It’s graduation season in America: many of my friends are donning a cap and gown again to receive their masters degrees or teaching credentials. A GUIDE TO MEXICO CITY FOR FIRST-TIMERS Located about 25 miles outside of Mexico City, the site features some of the most significant Mesoamerican pyramids built between 100 BC and 250 AD. It’s also known for its complex, multi-family residential compounds and well-preserved ancient murals. Pro tips: take an Uber there (it will run between $30 and $45 depending on traffic) and grab THE 10 THINGS I ALWAYS DO IN PARIS Arc de Triomphe. I’ve said it plenty of times before, but the Arc de Triomphe gets my vote for best view in Paris. I love the perspective of the Eiffel Tower (I never get the reasoning why you’d actually go up the Eiffel Tower and miss out on the most iconic part of the skyline) and the Champs-Elysee. The last time I went up was in January 10 THINGS YOU CAN'T MISS IN NYC There are lots of CitiBike stations to make it easy. A few of my favorite spots in the park: the stretch of towering American elms on the Mall, Bow Bridge, Bethesda Terrace, the Alice in Wonderland statue, and the Ramble. It’s also super fun to have a drink at the Loeb Boathouse or row around the Lake! POSTCARD FROM THE BAHAMAS Email; I only spent a day in the Bahamas–the curse of the cruise ship vacation–but it was exactly the burst of Caribbean sunshine that I needed after a few chilly months in New York City. DARE TO LIVE THE LIFE YOU'VE DREAMED L FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS For the vast majority of quotes, I read them, enjoy them, am momentarily inspired and then move on. However, I couldn’t quite shake a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. “Dare to live the life you’ve dreamed for yourself. Move forward and make your dreams come true.”. This forced me to take an honest look at my life. WHY IT'S WORTH VISITING TALLINN, ESTONIA It’s a lot less touristy once you cross over the medieval wall! We loved the laid-back restaurants, bustling markets and cool home boutiques in Kalamaja, which is one of the younger, more hipster-y areas. On my note about visiting Tallinn in the summer: I especially loved an area that was full of picnic tables and container bars andfairy lights.

ABOUT CHRISTINE AMOROSE L C'EST CHRISTINE About. Hello! My name is Christine Amorose Merrill, and this is my slice of the internet to talk travel, lifestyle and twenty- and thirty-something struggles. After graduating with a degree in journalism in 2009, I backpacked solo through Western Europe for five weeks and then got a THE CONTENT I'M CONSUMING The content I’m consuming. The one silver lining of having *a lot* more time at home is that I have more time to read, watch TV and listen to podcasts–aka consume a lot more content! I’ve been loving so much of what I discovered lately, and so–wanted to share a few things just in case you are looking for something new to enjoy! ADVICE ON MOVING TO NEW YORK CITY I GIRLS WEEKEND IN NYC Advice on moving to and visiting New York City, a weekend itinerary in NYC, the best date ideas in NYC, neighborhood guides to the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. A WEEKEND GUIDE TO CATALINA ISLAND Hiking, by far, is one of the best things to do on the island: 88% of the island is actually part of the Catalina Island Conservancy, which is one of the oldest private land trusts in the state, and there are more than 165 miles of trails. We did the Hermit Gulch Trail, which had incredible ocean views to both sides of the island. After stints living in France, Australia and NYC and lots of (often solo!) travel around the world, I currently live in San Diego with my husband and pug. WHY IT'S WORTH VISITING OSAKA Why it’s worth visiting Osaka. To be honest, I’m not totally sure why we decided to go to Osaka. Although it’s the second-largest city in Japan, it doesn’t have the same buzz as Tokyo , charm as Kyoto or the scenic beauty of the small towns along the coast or in the shadow of Mount Fuji. Somehow, though, it got thrown onto our itinerary WHAT YOU CAN'T MISS IN KYOTO Fushimi Inari Shrine. One of the most photographed spots in Kyoto is surely the vivid rows of torii gates at Fushimi Inari Shrine, a mountaintop Shinto shrine that dates back to the 700s. It’s a short train ride from the main Kyoto station (two stops!), and the shrine is located right outside Inari station. SEEING MANHATTAN FROM THE WATER: THE CIRCLE LINE CRUISE Jenna, Kate and I hopped on the boat with a box of coffee and a bottle of Bailey’s: key to keeping warm on the chilly outside deck! We took the Semi-Circle 2-Hour Cruise that left at 4 p.m.: perfect winter timing to see the skyline with a backdrop of blue skies, sunset clouds and the stars. It was a gorgeously different perspective of the* Home
