A GRAND OPPORTUNITY FOR ENERGY STORAGE A Grand Opportunity for Energy Storage. Innovation is driving rapid transformation in America’s energy system. Ten years ago, almost no one predicted the U.S. would be the top producer of oil and natural gas in the world, eclipsing Saudi Arabia and Russia. Similarly, few people predicted the cost of wind and solar would decline so rapidly NUCLEAR – CLEARPATH Nuclear. Nuclear power is the largest source of clean energy in the United States. In 2019, nuclear plants generated 19% of all the electricity in America. That makes nuclear energy the largest source of low-carbon electricity – more than wind, solar, and hydropower combined. Despite its benefits, some extreme environmental groups andCARBON CAPTURE
Carbon capture is a critical technology that can reduce emissions from power plants, industrial facilities (e.g. cement and steel ), and even straight from the atmosphere. Further development will drive new concepts and technologies, such as the zero-emission fossil energy NET Power Plant. THE MANY EXCITING TYPES OF CARBON CAPTURE Carbon capture, utilization and storage, aka “CCS” or “CCUS”, refers to the removal of carbon dioxide from the waste streams of industrial processes or from the atmosphere, for storage underground or “recycling” into new products. Much like the term “energy efficiency”, carbon capture is an umbrella term for manytechnologies.

Hydrogen is the smallest atom in the universe, yet this tiny molecule has huge potential to connect energy generation, energy storage, transportation, and industry. It’s been nearly 20 years since hydrogen has gotten as much press and attention as it is today – a resurgence likely due to the revelation that more than the electricity sector must be decarbonized to tackle climate change.Hydrogen 101
