Join us for some 1940s music and dancing. Jeep, Jump, Jive will be creating a party atmosphere with popular 1940s music playing from their US Army Air Force Jeep. There will be Lindy Hop* social dancing and the opportunity for everyone to get involved with fun classes for all ages. *Lindy Hop is the dance that defines the 1940s. The swingdance

WW2 Nissen Hut. Nissen huts were invented during the First World War. They were cheap and easy to put up – the record time for construction is 1 hour and 27 minutes. Many huts were used as temporary housing after the Second World War. The original use and age of the Museum’s Nissen hut remain mysterious. It had already beenmoved at least
HISTORIC WORKING FARM Working farm using traditional techniques and machinery. The Museum runs a small historic working farm endeavouring to use and demonstrate traditional farming techniques from the past. The farm’s small working fields surround the historic buildings, andAMERSHAM PREFAB
The Prefab at the Museum was one of 46 on the Finch Lane Estate in Amersham. There were 18 different designs and this one is a Universal House Mark 3 design and was made by a company in Rickmansworth, and was originally built in 1947. Robert and Ethel Brant lived here with their three children and pet parrot. To qualify for group entry rates you must have a minimum group size of 10 and you must have prebooked and prepaid. £6 per person*. Under 4s free. £12 per person cream tea and admission. JACKSON STUDIOS
Jackson Studios is currently in storage at COAM. The studios were once owned by the Jackson family who donated the building to the Museum after it was threatened with demolition. The studios, originally in Maple Cross, were used as a recording studio by Jack Jackson. Jack was a popular bandleader during the 1930s and 1940s and later became a GARDENS AND ORCHARDS These include a formal Arts and Crafts garden, a pretty cottage garden, and a ‘dig for victory’ allotment next to the 1940s prefab. The cherry and apple orchards are full of heritage varieties, and the woods are carpeted with bluebells in spring. The gardens certainly help to enhance the museum buildings. This July the Museum will be celebrating 40 years since it was founded in 1976. In celebration of this we asked 40 of our staff and volunteers to choose their favourite Museum artefact and share it with us. The Prefab at the Museum was one of 46 on the Finch Lane Estate in Amersham. There were 18 different designs and this one is a Universal House Mark 3 design and was made by a company in Rickmansworth, and was originally built in 1947. Robert and Ethel Brant lived here with their three children and pet parrot. HISTORIC WORKING FARM Working farm using traditional techniques and machinery. The Museum runs a small historic working farm endeavouring to use and demonstrate traditional farming techniques from the past. The Prefab at the Museum was one of 46 on the Finch Lane Estate in Amersham. There were 18 different designs and this one is a Universal House Mark 3 design and was made by a company in Rickmansworth, and was originally built in 1947. Robert and Ethel Brant lived here with their three children and pet parrot. MUSEUM IN BUCKINGHAMSHIRE Chiltern Open Air Museum in Buckinghamshire was founded by volunteers in 1976, and opened to the public in 1981. The Museum is a charity that rescues threatened historic buildings, which would otherwise be demolished, and rebuilds and preserves them in a traditional Chilterns landscape. The Museum now has 37 rescued historic buildings that wereJACKSON STUDIOS
Jackson Studios is currently in storage at COAM. The studios were once owned by the Jackson family who donated the building to the Museum after it was threatened with demolition. The studios, originally in Maple Cross, were used as a recording studio by Jack Jackson. Jack was a popular bandleader during the 1930s and 1940s and later became a HOME EDUCATION LEARNING DAYS Home Education Learning Days. The Museum runs specially themed home education learning days. Our next learning day will be in Autumn 2021, when we hope to be able to welcome back home educators safely on site. We will update this page with further information when it is available. WW2 Nissen Hut. Nissen huts were invented during the First World War. They were cheap and easy to put up – the record time for construction is 1 hour and 27 minutes. Many huts were used as temporary housing after the Second World War. The original use and age of the Museum’s Nissen hut remain mysterious. It had already beenmoved at least
HISTORIC WORKING FARM Working farm using traditional techniques and machinery. The Museum runs a small historic working farm endeavouring to use and demonstrate traditional farming techniques from the past. The farm’s small working fields surround the historic buildings, andACCOMPANIED WALKS

At the start of my last blog, I remarked on the three whole months that had passed since I last wrote something for our website.That blog was written in the early months of this year and published in March.
