The Wilmington North Carolina native BLUE WATER GOLD.....THE SARGASSO WEED LINE There is nothing that excites the offshore angler more than to encounter the patches of pure gold– a grass line, sitting on blue water. Absolutely, more valuable than 24-carat currency. Yes, this is the basics of blue water life offshore where current boundaries, upwelling’s, and the meanderings of the mighty Gulfstream collide with current boundaries to OSPREY (CE) 3000 REEL....PRODUCT REVIEW Their top of the line reel is the Osprey Carbon Edition or (CE) edition. It’s their lightest reel so far at just over 8 ounces with 22 pounds of drag capacity. It features 9 stainless steel bearings as well as 2 Eco-Sealed bearings. The reel comes in 1000, 2500, 3000 and 4000 versions. This yearly meeting has become a tradition for me and it’s one I never cease to enjoy. While Lee has a great perspective on all types of saltwater UNDERSTANDING THE WAHOO This fish was an unofficial world record. The official record stands at 184 lbs. Wahoo spends 45% of their time less than 65 feet below the ocean’s surface and 90% of their time in depths less than 650 feet. All fish spend their time in water temperatures between 63.5 degrees to 81.5, with an average of 74.0 degrees. PENN BATTLE III DX.......PRODUCT REVIEW 6 + 1 Stainless Steel Sealed Bearing System. Lightweight EVA Foam Knob. PENN has taken the Battle Reel series and fishing reel to the next level and beyond. The PENN Battle DX brings even more dependability, smoother operation, and just fishability to the table. This line stands as a great upgrade from the already solid series ofreels.
ST. CROIX MOJO INSHORE ROD....TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN It means using a rod that has great casting capability, feel, and durability. Recently I added a St. Croix Mojo Inshore rod to my growing fishing rod arsenal. It was impressive from the start. The incredibly stronger blank was not only lightweight but also free of dead spots which are key when fishing for species like Speckled Trout. SUNDANCE X20 SKIFF....BOAT REVIEW The Sundance DX20 is a welcome member of the bay boat / skiff boat category. At first look, I was impressed with the looks of the boat. It’s solid build with high gunwales and wide beam made my first look impressive. I also found the fit and finish to be shockingly detailedfor a boat
