Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with a death investigation at a local motel. Bobby Sabb is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with Murder.. YARDS – CITY OF COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT Yards. All premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or plant growth in excess of (jurisdiction to insert height in inches). All noxious weeds shall be prohibited. Weeds shall be defined as all grasses, annual plants and vegetation, other than trees or shrubs provided; however, this term shall not include cultivated K-9 TEAM – CITY OF COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT K-9 Team. The Columbia Police Department started its K-9 Team in 1988. It is now a specialized unit that consists of eleven K-9 teams (one handler and one dog). Each team operates on a city wide basis and is used to support patrol operations, specialize units, and criminal investigations division, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Code Enforcement Division enforces a variety of local ordinances related to the property maintenance and nuisances on all properties in the city of Columbia. VACANT BUILDING ORDINANCE Buildings needs to be registered with the Code Enforcement Division within 120 days of becoming vacant. The 120-day period starts from the effective date of the ordinance; October 15, 2019. Any buildings that were vacant as of October 15, 2019, will need to be registered on or before February 12, 2020, if they are still vacant at that time. MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES Maintenance Guidelines. The Code Enforcement Division enforces the City’s property maintenance codes ( International Property Maintenance Code and City Ordinances) for the nearly 45,000 residential and commercial properties in the City of Columbia.
