PATHARE PRABHU RECIPE « COMPULSIVE FOODIE Mom’s Shrimp Masala Curry- “Khadkhadle”. My mother belonged to the “Pathare Prabhu” community, one of the earliest known settlers of the city of Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay). This traditional shrimp masala curry is one of a popular creation enjoyed by many generations of Pathare Prabhus. It also happens to be one myfavorites.
POTATOES « COMPULSIVE FOODIE Potatoes With Five Spices- “Paanch- Phoran”- serves 6 These potatoes are cooked using five whole spices like fennel, yellow mustard seeds, black mustard seeds, cumin seeds and onion seeds with a dash of red chilly powder. ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP « COMPULSIVE FOODIE For the meatballs, place the ground chicken, sausage, bread crumbs, garlic, parsley, Pecorino, Parmesan, milk, egg, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper in a bowl and combine gently with a fork. With a teaspoon, drop 1 to 1 1/4-inch meatballs onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. (You should have about 40 meatballs. MOM’S SHRIMP MASALA CURRY- “KHADKHADLE” My mother belonged to the “Pathare Prabhu” community, one of the earliest known settlers of the city of Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay). This traditional shrimp masala curry is one of a popular creation enjoyed by many generations of Pathare Prabhus. It also happens to be one my favorites. FRENCH BEANS
This simple prepartion of French beans comes from my mother. Most of the vegetables she cooked for us, uses this method. A simple, traditional Maharashtrian way of cooking! Using few ingredients allowing the flavor of the vegetable to come through. I could eat these french beans with every meal! Ingredients: 1 lb French beans- cut small ( chop the ends off and discard) 2 teaspoons canola oil 2 Thai hot cillies (cut big) 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (Hing) 3/4 teaspoon black mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or more to taste) salt to taste Trim the ends of the french beans and discard. SPRING CAKE!
I decided to make this cake for my daughter and her friends to enjoy on their first day of spring break. Ever since I saw this cake on Make Fabulous Cakes website, I have dreamed of making it. I love Darlene’s blog and find her tutorials so helpful and well presented. Especially the videos that really help in cake decorating. I switched up the flavors of the cake as my daughter is allergic to nuts. So I made her favorite Red Velvet cake and Chocolate cake and sandwiched them between a classic cream cheese frosting. The outside of the cake was decorated using Italian Meringue Buttercream that is more stable, not overly sweet and holds the shape of the flowers. . . . CLICK TOREAD MORE

CHICKEN BURGERS
Hello Everyone! Its been so long since I have shared a recipe. I have missed doing so, but have been very busy with my baking business. I have lots of recipes to share which I hope to post every week. These chicken burgers are made by cooking ground chicken, onions cilantro, ginger, garlic, jalepenos , freshly ground black pepper and almost a tablespoon of worcestershire sauce that gives it so much flavor! Adding the boiled potatoes and bread to the cooked mixture helps it bind. These delicious burgers can also be made using soya granules that are easily available at your local Indian grocery store. HAWAIIAN THEMED – 5TH GRADE BANQUET Every year the PTA at my daughter’s school throws a special lunch for the 5th graders graduating elementary school. This year the theme was “Hawaiian” and extra special to me as my daughter graduated and went on to middle school. I was in charge of desserts and made a wide range of them from decorated sugar cookies, chocolate cupcakes, chocolate covered Oreos, vanilla Panna cotta, coeur a la creme, chocolate pods de creme and cake bites. The entire PTA at my daughter’s school worked really hard to make this event super special for the kids. They did a fabulous job with decorating, organizing sponsors for food, music, goody bags etc! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEGHNA! My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday recently by having her friends over for a sleepover. Yes! It was a unicorn party! Unicorn cake, chocolate covered Oreos, cake pops, and meringues were some of the desserts. The kids painted their own unicorns and also played a few fun games like pin the horn on the unicorn.
