GUIDELINES | COSA
Guidelines. COSA produces guidelines to inform clinical practice on a wiki-based platform, provided by Cancer Council Australia. COSA members update these guidelines online as new evidence becomes available, informing clinical practice according to the best and most recent scientific evidence available.TELE-TRIALS
COSA Tele-Trials Project. The COSA project to pilot the implementation of the Australasian Tele-Trial Model commenced on 1 August 2017 and concluded on 30 September 2020. ALCOHOL: ALCOHOL LINKED TO CANCER A study, published in Addictive Behaviours, has found telling people that alcohol causes cancer makes them want to drink less.Author Simone Pettigrew, from The George Institute for Global Health, had 8000 adults complete three surveys. She said alcohol was associated with increased risk of injury and premature death - and even moderate drinkers were at risk of some cancers. COSA TELEONCOLOGY GUIDELINES The COSA Regional and Rural Group and the Teleoncology Guidelines Working Group are pleased to announce that the COSA clinical practice guidelines for teleoncology are now available on the Cancer Guidelines Wiki. The guidelines were developed by a multidisciplinary working group and are now open for comments from the public. NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: TIME TO TAX DRINKS MAKING The Australian Medical Association (AMA) has demanded a tax on high-sugar drinks and shown support for an increase in alcohol prices. AMA president Dr Omar Khorshid said the group would call for a 20 per cent tax on high-sugar beverages in a bid to cut “skyrocketing” rates of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.LOGIN | COSA
