CYCLE FRIENDLY PLACES Cycle Friendly Places is a new accreditation programme developed by Cycling UK, equipping hospitality and accommodation businesses in Cornwall, Kent and Norfolk with new skills, resources and knowledge to broaden their appeal to cycle tourists. Accredited businesses will enjoy exclusive benefits including: promotion through Cycling UK’s CATHEDRALS CYCLE ROUTE CHALLENGE The days range from panoramic hill views, lakes, river and canal rides to quiet country back lanes and bustling cities. Cyclists aren’t expected to ride all 42 cathedrals in one go, although the "42 cathedrals in 42 days" relay challenge is planned to become an annual event! Called the West Kernow Way, the 150-mile route begins and ends in Penzance and is GRIDIRON CHALLENGE RIDE The Gridiron Challenge Ride is part of Cycling UK's Challenge Ride Series and takes place in early October when the forest is at its best. It's named after the many cattle grids that you pass over - they are there to keep the livestock that roams free in the forest due to ancient grazing rights from leaving certain areas, although you may often encounter them on the roads asKING ALFRED'S WAY
WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS OF TUBELESS TYRES? Tubeless tyres look like normal tyres: U-shape in section, with wire or synthetic ‘beads’ embedded at the edges. When the tyre is inflated, air pressure forces the beads up to the lipped edges of the wheel rim, holding the tyre in place. As the name says, tubeless tyres dispense with the innertube. The tyre itself forms an airtight sealwith the rim.

With the impact of coronavirus, we know it can be difficult to pay for essential bike repairs right now. The Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme provided free repairs and maintenance, getting thousands of people across Scotland on their bikes. WHAT GREASE SHOULD I USE ON MY BIKE AND WHY? Grease consists of a lubricating oil mixed with a ‘soap’ (e.g. lithium or calcium soap) to make it viscous and sticky. Sometimes there are additives like Teflon. Grease is essential for bikes. Without it, bearings run roughly and wear rapidly. Without grease, water causes parts to seize.
