SERVICES - DEAFBLIND ASSOCIATION (NSW) Our services. DBANSW organises regular activities including: As well as our work with individuals with Deafblindness we provide Volunteer and Support Worker Training and Community Education. We undertake fundraising and community awareness raising RESOURCES - DEAFBLIND ASSOCIATION (NSW) The principal provider of orientation and mobility training services to long cane users, guide dog users, and other people with vision loss in NSW and the ACT. The Deaf Society provides a range of services to people in NSW who are deaf or hearing impaired, including an interpreter booking service. Interpreter booking Service, not only EVENTS - DEAFBLIND ASSOCIATION (NSW) The two-hour session is from 10:15 am - 12:15 pm on the 3rd Friday of each month at 29 Burwood Rd, Concord NSW. Communication is our most basic human right, and DBA (NSW) continually advocates for communication training and training for communication/guides to support deafblind people in the community. We are a not for profit organisation which aims to create safe and comfortable environments that enable individuals with deafblindness to access the community. Plus a small group of very dedicated volunteers who regularly turn up for both HOH Outings and Bunnings SausageSizzles.
EVENTS - DEAFBLIND ASSOCIATION (NSW) The two-hour session is from 10:15 am - 12:15 pm on the 3rd Friday of each month at 29 Burwood Rd, Concord NSW. Our group has been running for more than a year now. This is a challenging but highly rewarding volunteering role – you will “see” things through the “eyes” of people with deafblindness.COMMUNICATION
Communication. Communication is our most basic human right, and DBA (NSW) continually advocates for communication training and training for communication/guides to support deafblind people in the community. Deafblind people use a wide variety of methods to communicate, and everyone communicates in some way, even if it is not recognised byothers.

Deafblind manual alphabet A,E,I,O,U. TECHNOLOGY - DEAFBLIND ASSOCIATION (NSW) This is a device which bypasses the ear and connects directly to the auditory nerve. It processes sounds (via a control box) into a stream of pulses which are passed to the auditory nerve. The stream of pulses initially sound rather different to what the wearer is used to (being compared to clicks and buzzes), but with practice wearers can hearVOLUNTEER WITH US

Deafblindness is a dual sensory impairment, which significantly affects communication, access to information, learning and independence of a person who is deafblind. 90% of the information a person receives is via the ears and/or eyes, so a Deafblind (DB) person is only receiving 10% of what is happening around them.
