The EBU is the world's foremost alliance of public service media organizations, with Members in 56 countries in Europe and beyond. The EBU's mission is to defend the interests of public service media and to promote their indispensible contribution to modern society. It is the point of reference for industry knowledge and expertise. The EBU operates Eurovision and Euroradio. EBU - MEDIA SUMMIT 2021 Radio, TV and Digital Assemblies The EBU Media team is happy to bring together the annual Media Summit, virtual edition, which includes the Radio, TV, and Digital Assemblies. Although we'd have loved to host this year’s Media Summit in person, the continuing COVID-19 restrictions have forced us to keep EBU - EBU EXECUTIVE BOARD AGREES TO SUSPENSION OF BELARUS At a meeting today the EBU Executive Board agreed to suspend Belarus Member BTRC. The EBU has been closely monitoring the suppression of media freedom in Belarus and have consistently called on BTRC, as a Member of the EBU, to uphold our core values of freedom of expression, independence and accountability. EBU - NEW POSITION PAPER ON THE PROPOSED DIGITAL MARKETS ACT In our new position paper on the EU’s Digital Markets Act, we say that the Act must tackle unfair gatekeeper behaviour. Addressing this behaviour will guarantee citizens’ ability to access and engage online with the media they most trust and value and will enable Europe’s diverse media landscape to further prosper. These include competition enforcement in digital markets, rules governing platform-to-business relations, and issues relating to EBU - GENDER EQUALITY STEERING GROUP The EBU Gender Equality Steering Group was formed in 2019 under the sponsorship of EBU's president and a mandate from the Executive Board to develop a thought leadership programme. Group members contribute with their experience and know-how to identify and illustrate the essential policies necessary EBU - EUROPEAN DIGITAL RADIO ALLIANCE The European Digital Radio Alliance (EDRA) is a joint initiative of several public and commercial broadcasters from across Europe, with the support of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It already supports the SMPTE 2110-20, -21, -30, -40 and SMPTE 2059 standards. The software is written in such a way that it can easily be extended to support other future standards andspecifications.
