About. After years of preparation, 25 representatives of journalists' associations, publishing houses, academic institutions, trade unions and media rights experts from altogether 16 countries met on June 24th, 2015 in Leipzig, Germany to found the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF). The organisation is an independent non-profit European Co-operative Society (SCE). TEAM - EUROPEAN CENTRE FOR PRESS AND MEDIA FREEDOM Renata is experienced in writing, editing, marketing and communications work. For ECPMF's comms team, she conducts research, monitores violations of press and media freedom, organises fact-finding missions, writes articles and takes care of the social media channels. Renata speaks German, English, Serbo-Croatian andItalian.
HUNGARY’S TWO PANDEMICS: COVID-19 AND ATTACKS ON MEDIA A legal opinion commissioned by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) finds that the Hungarian Government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic fails to live up to domestic or European legal standards and entrenches the country’s attacks on independent media outlets, journalists and JOURNALISTS-IN-RESIDENCE The ECPMF’s Journalists-in-Residence (JiR) programme offers temporary shelter for journalists facing harassment and intimidation as a direct result of their work. PROPOSAL FOR AN EU ANTI-SLAPP LAW This paper is the result of this collaborative work: a model EU anti-SLAPP law proposing a set of rules which, if in place, would make sure that in each EU country SLAPPs are dismissed at an early stage of proceedings, SLAPP litigants pay for abusing the law and the courts, and SLAPP targets are given means and assistance to defend themselves.
