Even though that was the outcome, I think it’s still important to write about my placenta accreta experience because the entire second half of my pregnancy (including the birth) were impacted in one way or anotherbecause of it.
HOW TO FIND BALANCE AFTER AN EXERCISE ADDICTION Start slow. If you’re anything like me, then it’s all or nothing, black or white. If you were used to working out 6-7 days/week, it can be hard to do less than that. Listen to me — you have to slow down. Exercise 2-3 times a week. Just move your body. Do yoga. STARTED ANTIDEPRESSANT MEDICATION 10 Changes After I Started Antidepressant Medication. It’s been about 8 months since I started antidepressant medication. I also believe that I had anxiety issues, but we tackled the 6 LESSONS I LEARNED FROM 9 MONTHS IN JAIL 2. Everyone has a story. It’s really easy to look at people in jail and write them off. As soon as I got there I told myself I didn’t belong and all of this was a mistake. After some time, however, I realized that everyone there has their own story and a life that has brought them to that point. MY EXPERIENCE WITH STARTING ANTIDEPRESSANTS This was my first experience with starting antidepressants, but it wasn’t my last. As I shared a couple weeks ago, I recently increased my dosage after more than two years. This time around, the change was much more subtle and took much longer to occur. I experienced none of the night sweats, but there was a period where I felt slightly more PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY: WHAT IT IS AND WHY YOU NEED IT Yes and no. There are both weak and tight pelvic floors and both can cause dysfunction. Doing an abundance of kegels if you already have a tight pelvic floor can do more damage. This is where breathing and relaxation techniques are imperative to restore normal function. It’s best to have a professional assess what group you’re in. WHY I BECAME A PERSONAL TRAINER Last year, I was selected as one of three recipients of the Unbreakable Award — an annual award given by Cal-EZ to recognize “a woman with a courageous spirit, one who overcomes obstacles with grace and inspires those around her.” More specifically, the award focuses on women who are following their health and fitness dreams and inspiring others along the way. WHY I DON'T LIKE YOGA Why I Don’t Like Yoga. Yesterday I was having lunch with a friend at Sweetgreen (surprise). We were talking about life, FOOD, and fitness, when the subject of yoga came up. It reminded me that I had wanted to write this post but didn’t write it down and therefore forgot about it. Note to self — 7 LIFE LESSONS I LEARNED FROM 5 YEARS OF PROBATION Tuesday of this week (May 10) marked 5 years since I was released from a 9 month incarceration. I was finally able to leave the detention center where I had spent almost a year of my life and work on rebuilding everything I had lost. 10 THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE BECOMING A PERSONAL TRAINER 1. People are unpredictable. I went into personal training thinking that if someone spends money for a workout, the likelihood is pretty high that they will show up and stick to that commitment. Wrong. I’ve been surprised at how many people late cancel their appointments, even though they know they will get charged.
