Our mountains are territories with a future and opportunities for Europe. Euromontana is the multi-sectoral association for cooperation and development of mountain areas. Euromontana’s mission is to promote living mountains, integrated and sustainable development and quality of life in mountain areas. WHO ARE OUR MEMBERS? About 70 organisations across 20 countries comprise the membership of Euromontana. Organisations are diverse in nature: local or regional authorities, socio-economic organisations or chambers, environmental, forestry or development agencies, research institutes, schools,training centres .

Mountain Products are specific products. Mountain products are products of which the raw material is produced in mountain areas and, in the case of processed products, their processing occurs in mountain areas. They include a wide array of products, from dairy products, to meat, fruits, oil olive but also pastries, mineral water or medicinal plants, among others. EUROPE’S 2030 FOREST MUST BE MULTIFUNCTIONAL Europe’s 2030 forest must be multifunctional. Working themes. Euromontana is working on themes which can impact the sustainable development of mountain areas in Europe, trying to embrace a holistic view and to pay attention to inter-relations between all themes. You will find our analysis in our position paper “ Mountains2020 “.
ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE Mountains are “Europe’s ecological backbone” Mountains: an asset for the benefit of all Europe. People who go on holidays in mountain areas will not contradict this statement: environment is a strong asset of those regions.The forests, the landscapes, the purity of air and water, the rich biodiversity of those areas do not only benefit mountains’ dwellers, but also Europe in its entirety. TERRITORIAL COHESION Territorial cohesion. The Cohesion policy aims “at reducing disparities between the levels of development of the various regions and the backwardness of the least favoured regions” and according to the article 174 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU), this policy should pay “ particular attention to mountain regions”.

Move on Green will improve the design and effectiveness of regional policies on sustainable transport in rural and mountain areas. Doing so, MOG will contribute to: Reduce emissions and waste and minimise the impact on both the environment and local landscapes. Mountain Products are specific products. Mountain products are products of which the raw material is produced in mountain areas and, in the case of processed products, their processing occurs in mountain areas. They include a wide array of products, from dairy products, to meat, fruits, oil olive but also pastries, mineral water or medicinal plants, among others. INTERREG EUROPE 2021-2027: WHAT CHANGES COMPARED TO 2014 Interreg Europe is the EU’s programme for interregional cooperation which supports experience sharing, policy learning and capacity building for regional actors across all Europe. The fourth draft of the 2021-2027 Interreg Europe’s programme has been published and an open consultation to collect stakeholders’ suggestions has justclosed.

This is the case of the Cyprianerhof Hotel, located near the Rosengarten massif in South Tyrol in Italy, which has managed to reduce costs, minimize waste and save energy while providing a healthier environment and increased comfort for its guests.
