This piece was a reinterpretation of my SATURDAYS AT HOME WITH MY PLANTS II 30 x 24 x 1 inches. I am a plant lover and caretaker, and plants are fully present in my artistic expression. Plants are a critical connection to nature for me, and a reflection of my own well being. Plants require a reciprocal relationship, they return to you the energy that you put in plus more. It was one of a series of posters commissioned by 350.org and the Climate March to mobilize people across North America for the event. LOVE & DIGNITY BEYOND BARS AND BORDERS Paintings. Acrylic, Monoprint Collage and Linoleum Block on Wood. 84 x 48 x 2 inches. This work is among my favorites. The scale of the work (7 x 4 feet) allowed me to experiment with large format linoleum block and monotype. Each part of the face was printed over a different monotype layer, and then cut and assembled to form the final figure. DOLORES, A WARRIOR FOR ALL LIVING BEINGS This artwork honors the life and work of civil rights activist, Dolores Huerta, and is titled, "Dolores, a Warrior for All Living Beings." Commissioned by the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University, the piece depicts our human relationship to nature and all of its creatures.COLLECTIONS

Her art and praxis address migration, gender justice, climate change, racial equity, and sexual freedom. Favianna leads art interventions around the United States at the intersection of art, justice and cultural equity. Her forms include visual art, public art, writing, cultural organizing and power building. Her work serves as a record of her human experiences as a woman of color embracing joy, sexual pleasure and personal transformation. She is the co-founder and president of The Center for Cultural Power, a national organization igniting change at the intersection of art, culture and social justice. She is the recipient of the Robert Rauschenberg Artist as Activist Fellowship, the Atlantic Fellowship for Racial Equity, and the SOROS Equality Fellowship.NEWS
