My name is Matthew Wegner. As my day job I act as the Development Director for Flashbang Studios doing casual computer game development.We’re in the business of making and selling fun computer games for everyone–not just hardcore gamers (who enjoy such crazy things as hidden object games).We run our own site where you can download games, too.. In addition to the obvious physics simulation of buildings being torn apart by dynamite, TNT, and C4, there is a layer of business simulation in Operation Cleaner 2. You can select the number of workers, elevators, bulldozers, and guards for you teamon the ground.
FUN-MOTION » GISH 2 ANNOUNCED! Gish 2 is now listed as in development on the the Cryptic Sea website. The release date is a vague “later”, and the description is a mere ellipsis, but this is fantastic news for Gish lovers everywhere. Alex and Edmund, the original programmer and artist on Gish, will be working on the sequel (they recently acquired the rights to Gish from FUN-MOTION » TURN-BASED POOL MEETS ROCK-PAPER-SCISSORS Simple Controls. The controls in Globulos are a great example of the right kind of simplicity. The game is turn-based; during each turn both players set trajectories for their pieces. After the planning time, the round plays out simultaneously using a simple physics model. FUN-MOTION » BLOBOATS, GENTLY DOWN THE PHYSICS STREAM Bloboats is a neat physics game by Markus “MakeGh” Kettunen. He entered the game into the Assembly ’06 Game Development Competition. FUN-MOTION » PHYSICS GAMES I Hate Clowns is a fun little game we developed in the Fall of 2003. It was the run-up to the Independent Games Festival deadline. Along with Beesly’s Buzzwords, we decided to submit whatever projects we had playable at the time. I Hate Clowns was created in the spare time of a very busy three days. In fact, I’d be surprised if the game wasn’t a finalist in at least one of those categories in this year’s IGF.The game simply looks amazing, particularly at FUN-MOTION » PHYSICS GAMES It’s rare that I review AAA retail games, or driving games, but Bugbear Entertainment’s Flat Out 2 is too remarkable to pass on any mention. I was a huge fan of the first title. It delivered very well-tuned driving physics in a standard race mode, as well as ragdoll-based minigames. FUN-MOTION » PHYSICS GAMES Hammerfall is a gorgeous work-in-progress 2D game out of Russia. This particular release was posted to the GameDev.ru forums by “GKosh” for feedback and is marked as version 0.2. It’s a little rough around the edges, but it’s a remarkable production and whollyplayable as is.
