I Die With My Little Spy. It’s 1959; the height of the Cold War and a chill wind blows through Thymely over Actin Station after the shock discovery of the murdered body of mild-mannered professor, Gustave Wynd! ROTHLEY STATION
Rothley Station was constructed as part of the ninety-two mile “London Extension” of the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Railway. In 1897, the company adopted the now familiar name “Great Central Railway”, and the new line opened to passenger traffic on 15 th March 1899. The station was built to the standard London Extension country station layout with a single island platform AFTERNOON TEA TRAINS 2021 Pre-booking is essential for Afternoon Tea Trains. The Afternoon Tea Trains will depart from Loughborough Central station at either 3.00 pm (selected weekdays) or 2.45pm (selected Saturdays) or 2.30 pm (selected Bank Holiday Mondays). Afternoon Tea trains in 2021 are currently scheduled for: Tuesday 25th May at 3:00pm. Thursday 27th Mayat 3:00pm.

It was one of a class of 65, and entered traffic on 3rd March,1954, at West Auckland Shed (County Durham). This was soon followed by a move to Kirkby Stephen, working trains from Tebay to Barnard Castle on the StainmoreRailway.

The latest phase of the Great Central Railway's Reunification appeal has reached one hundred and fifty thousand pounds. The award winning Leicestershire heritage line is raising millions of pounds to re-connect with its sister railway in Nottinghamshire and create THE SOUTH YORKSHIREMAN 2021 The train departs from Loughborough Central at 1.00p.m, returning at approximately 2.45pm. At weekends, rail travel is normally unlimited on the date of dining,however due to the current Covid situation, this is not possible until further LOCOMOTIVE SHED APPEAL The locomotive shed at Loughborough has served the GCR well since acquisition in the early 1970s, being an ex-RAF structure from Langar airfield near Nottingham. But after over 40 years it is unfortunately, feeling its age. The existing shed is becoming increasingly costly to maintain with cramped accommodation and very limited visitor VINTAGE VEHICLE CLUB Sign-Up to the Great Central Railway’s Vintage Vehicle Club. There are no fees and no subscription! We hold regular events and rallies, all set to the backdrop of our nostalgic steam railway. Or just pop down on any normal running weekend and display your vehicle at Quorn. Signing up takes just a few minutes and can be done via the linksbelow.
