1. White-Handed Gibbon: Hylobates lar Geographic Range: Found in Thailand, peninsular Malaysia, south-west Yunnan(China),southern and eastern Myanmar, north-west Laos and Sumatra. Physical Characteristics: The White-handed gibbon varies from almost black through dark brownto pale buff or cream-colored, but can always be distinguished by its white or buff hands, feet and facialRECENTLY RESCUED
Meet Mickie, a male gibbon we recently rescued from Samui island. COVID-19 has meant less tourists for illegal animal photo prop businesses and he was recently abandoned near village by his owner. Since being rescued, we gave Mickie a full health and blood test. Unfortunately, he is extremely addicted to people and has notexpressed

All AS SEEN IN | THE GIBBON REHABILITATION PROJECT Earth Touch : Saving Thailand’s Gibbons. It’s no holiday for the gibbons of Thailand. Habitat loss, poaching for traditional medicine and the cruel capture of baby gibbons for both the pet and tourism trade have left all but one species threatened or endangered. Luckily the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project in Phuket is looking to change this. THE GIBBON REHABILITATION PROJECT Khao Pra Thaew Non-Hunting Area, Phuket. “Khoa Phra Thaew” is the name of the conspicuous mountain range descending along the north through to the south of Thalang District, Phuket island. Its highest peak rises up to 450 metres above sea level. The mountain is densely covered by the forest, making it look like its wrapped in a deep green GIBBON SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM At the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, we rescued for over 350 gibbons since our establishment. Some gibbon require much more medical attention while most of them require at least 5 years of rehabilitation process depending on their previous cruelty conditions. By sponsoring our gibbons, you will surely make their lives muchcloser to the wild.
HOW CAN YOU HELP US SAVE GIBBONS? How can you help us save gibbons? 1. DO NOT purchase gibbons, or products derived from gibbons. Many animals are poached each year to be used for the pet trade or to make exotic merchandise. These activities are often illegal, and are always detrimental to the wild animal populations. Beaten brutally by her owner that amputations were necessary, Tam was put in a cage with other gibbons without introduction and they bit her. Now Tam has only one leg and one arm with only two fingers. Help us save Tam now!
