AN UNSTABLE VASE
An unstable vase. Many archaeological finds have been made in areas that were formerly used by brick factories. In the early 1920s, in Dilsen, Belgian Limburg, workers on a farm located in a place called "Leymveld" discovered two iron axes, two complete ceramics and a glass from the Merovingian period. The artefacts were handed over to the THREE “UNICA” BY THE DESIGNER FLORIS MEYDAM These three pieces pay tribute to Floris Meydam, who passed away in 2011, and highlight the astonishing contemporaneity of Dutch glass-making. The manta ray is a flat-bodied fish with fins shaped like wings. It is called the “devil of the sea” because its head bears two “horns”. The cuberdon is a traditional Belgiancone-shaped
PAIR OF TOURNAI PORCELAIN VASES Pair of Tournai porcelain vases. These two vases are part of a prestigious set of ten pieces (six vases and four cornets). Four vases and two cornets were made from Tournai soft-paste porcelain; they were perfect imitations of two vases and two cornets made from hard Chinese porcelain during the Qianlong period (1736–1795). FRAGMENTS OF A MILITARY DIPLOMA These two joined fragments belong to a military diploma, which was engraved under the second consulate of Emperor Trajan in the year 98 CE. The diploma was originally in the form of a booklet, which consisted of two perforated bronze tablets connected by a wire thatacted as a hinge.
