Fatopolis needs a hero to save its citizens from becoming couch potatoes. Design a superhero and feed it to have enough stamina and speed to save Mr Chubby and his cat. HOW DOES HEAT TRAVEL? H eat can travel in three main ways. If one end of a metal bar is heated, its atoms vibrate more vigorously. The 'hot' atoms nudge their neighbours, and heat travels along the bar by conduction. In a gas or liquid, heated areas expand and become less dense. As they rise, cool gas or liquid moves in to take their place, with the result that the WHY DO OTHER BIRDS RAISE CUCKOO CHICKS? A female will find another bird's nest, wait for the parents to be absent, then dart in to lay her own egg then leave. First, though, she removes one of the original eggs. When the cuckoo chick hatches, it pushes any other eggs and chicks out of the nest. Its bright red mouth acts as a stimulus to the foster parents to feed it constantly. RATIONING - GRIDCLUB Rationing. Britain depended on imported food. During the Second World War, German submarines preyed on convoys of merchant ships bringing supplies to the country. Rationing of food intake was the only option. Ration books were issued and supplies were controlled by the Ministryof Food -

Highland Village - living in a black house: People in Highland and Island Scotland lived in thatched houses called Black Houses throughout the 17th, 18th, 19th and even the 20th centuries.
