Heritage Coast Sailing and Rowing Inc. (HCS&R) is a Michigan not for profit corporation and a federal 501 (c)3 organization. Incorporated in Feb 2012, our purpose is to encourage boat building, sailing and rowing in traditional regional boats. We are actively looking for interested persons to join us in our building, sailing and rowingprograms.

The finished Stowe is a wonderful rowing boat and a favorite of our rowers. During the summer season, she is moored at the East Tawas State Dock and setup for rowing. In addition, we completed a Penobscot-14 for the Friends of NOAA Museum in Alpena to raffle in support of their activities. The boat had been built by the Friendsboat building

The 15 foot dory can be rowed by a single rower in calm water, but at least two are needed when it is rough. Dory lengths, unlike most other boats, are stated as the length of the bottom. Gardner states that the 15 model is probably the best Banks dory design because it is lighter then the offshore fishing dorys built to carry heavy loads of fish.PENOBSCOT-14

The 15 foot dory can be rowed by a single rower in calm water, but at least two are needed when it is rough. Dory lengths, unlike most other boats, are stated as the length of the bottom. The finished Stowe is a wonderful rowing boat and a favorite of our rowers. During the summer season, she is moored at the East Tawas State Dock and setup for rowing. Jordan Boats is a 10 year old firm and has created numerous kits for other boat designers.
